Stella's Social Club

the butcher block came from Lumber Liquidators, i'm pretty sure (two years ago) -- i got a 8' long piece and a 12' long piece, and together i think they were about $600. it's definitely not the highest quality, but it got me started (the previous owner of my house had installed *brick* countertops, utterly bizarre -- they were gritty & uneven & absolutely impossible to clean), and they're holding up pretty well -- here are some pictures:

before -- notice the horrible brick countertops, and the stainless steel sink that i didn't like (i bought the old stove off craigslist, & it cost more to have the movers deliver it than i paid for it!)

after #1 (i'd also painted the cabinets by then)

after #2, with new sink (yay!), and drawer pulls added

we had butcher block on one side of our's it was great.

Safari is limited in upgrades by the OS. Do you have the newest Operating system on you Mac? If not, upgrade the OS and then Safari will be upgraded.

Weird Mac stuff.....
Have the newest Mac operating system on the newest Mac which I bought recently for $2800.00. Have the latest Safari with the latest update. I think it is odd that it only happens on BYC, no other websites.

I want to make some cheese! I found this little recipe online, but will keep looking.

Ricotta cheese, eh? Hmm, yes, I would try that. Do you have the recipe, Kelly?
It was in the latest issue of Backwoods Home Magazine. I've never made it, but I plan to as it looks super easy. I know Mary has made it too, let me find it on her blog.

ETA: I couldn't find the ricotta cheese on Mary's blog, but I did find Lemon Ricotta Pancakes you can make:

That is just really weird!
Well Miss Kathy, I normally type with two fingers but this time one hand was holding the camera leaving me only the middle finger on my left hand to type with! So there Smarty pants.

Yummy recipe Kathy. I love pulled pork.

Ron - interesting on the buttermilk from making butter. I've used it after making butter in biscuits and pancakes - it came out fine.
It will--Baking Powder not Baking soda though.

Something from the BYC Hosting Site then. Hosting sites often do not troubleshoot or make sites compatible with all browsers. Usually IE and or Firefox are tested. Chrome and Safari not so much.

Ah, that's why then. My homemade pancakes and my biscuit recipe use baking powder.
Yes, baking powder is baking soda, cream of tartar and usually corn starch. The Cream of tartar acts like the acid in buttermilk.

Baking Soda also adds a bitter flavor that needs to be countered. Brown Sugar and Chocolate\cocoa powder will mask the bitter flavor. If you look at your recipes, you will see that Baking Soda and Baking power are used like this.
