My deep dark secret: I love retro 50s bathrooms and colored toilets. I'm not allowed to mention it at home..

My master bath has a colored toilet, but I don't think I could do blue. It is a soft dove gray and it's staying. I actually like it and it would be FAR too much to replace anyway. The toilet, double sinks and giant soaking tub in the bay window all match. I'm planning to paint the ceiling a matching gray..................if I ever get around to finishing my painting. Maybe after the weather stays cooled back down.

I soooooooooo can top you all. At my grandmothers house, her master bath is lime green. The tub and sinks are still lime green, toilets got replaced a couple of years ago. Her guest bath is royal blue - blue sink, blue wallpaper, and yes, blue carpet. The downstairs bathroom is brown - brown toilet, sink and tub with brown carpet with green and brown frog wallpaper.

She was ahead of her time. Decorating with color! Even if the choices are now questionable, LOL.

As I said, I was a second wife and followed a very cutesy idea of décor. I like pretty plain, but am still working with green leather sofas. I did get rid of the moose shadow lampshade table lamps and changed out to tiffany style shades/lamps. The whole house was pale dove gray, carpet, woodwork, walls, ceilings............... Other than the horrendous wallpaper. I stripped stripes from the hall bath and loved every moment of it.

LOL, I wonder if I am gonna have to stage that house. I'm always in charge of bathrooms ( I can learn techniques but have no personal taste, so i do stuff that can be larned) and Ill tell you San Francisco has some ammmmazingly weird ones. I think 1/2 of them are pink! We have one client that does not believe in towel racks and won't put them in any of his houses. Those ones are always fun!

at my paternal grandparents' house in Maryland, back in the 1970s, literally EVERYTHING was blue -- my grandmother's motto was, "i love any color, as long as it's blue."

a few years ago i attempted to start a photo project of taking pictures of some of her old things, all colored blue of course (she passed away in 2008, & i miss her SO much) -- never got very far with it, but here's the "starter kit" if i ever get back to that project:

but seriously, their entire house was blue, inside and out. blue car, too.
