Stella's Social Club

Just received a letter from the neighbors in the gated community across the road from us. Signed by two different residents in two houses. The rooster noise is causing them to lose sleep, have related health issues, is jecopardizing their jobs, and has devalued their properties. The one whose house is for sale said she has had to disclose the "nuisance" to prospective buyers and it has significantly lowered the value of their home. All the verbage has "legal" written all over it. They have put me on notice to get rid of my roosters.

Bad day for me. I should have bought a single wide on a100 acres and gotten the hell away from people completely. I have had to endure other people's noise, dogs, etc. every where I have lived. Now this!
:( Not again. :( Sorry. But you're roosters are legal and when the county lady came out even she said you were within your rights!

You can try the dark insulated coop (let out at 9 am) routine with the boys to see if that will work???

I wouldn't try accommodating them one iota, if it was me. That type of person is never satisfied until they get you to give up everything to conform to their idea of what life they want for themselves. You try to help them with their perceived issues, it's never enough. Linda knows. I'm so sorry. I'd say more but I'd lose my reputation for being tactful and non-profane.

I can't fight it Kelly, at least not legally. I simply do not have the kind of time and energy it takes to be involved in a lawsuit. I fought one after another for over 20 years when I was working and I can't start that stuff over again. Hundreds of thousands of my dollars have been spent on lawyers. No , make that millions, the last guy got 3.2 million. I can't do it, just can't. I am a basket case right now and they haven't even fired the lawyer round off yet. She actually told me in the letter that if I was going to keep the roosters, I would need to get them "de-crowed."

Michael is out there right now turning the coops into dark, dreary dungeons.

I know you don't like to fight stuff like this Mary. I'm sorry it's causing you stress. I still wouldn't give in, but I'm a stubborn one.

I managed to get a picture of my pretty splash Isbar today. Here she is. Too bad she doesn't want to lay eggs. Got 2 eggs out of her, then nothing. I'm hoping now that I'm getting rid of some of the boys, that she'll start laying again. She does hide in the coop to stay away from all the boys.
