I need help with olive egger issues. I am not up to speed on the genetics of OE's but I have four that hatched from very dark olive eggs. Two weeks ago they started laying and the eggs were dark green. I haven't had a green egg in over a week and the eggs I am getting now from that coop are blue. In this picture the dark green eggs were from the olive eggers last week and the one's that say "this one" I got today. They have been the same blue color all week.

Is it possible that two were laying olive eggs for a few days then stopped and the other two started laying and they lay blue eggs? Two of the pullets are white and two are wheaten but the all came from very dark green eggs. There are no other layers in that coop except for one BCM and three Icelandics.

i had the same experience with my two Amelias (CL x pene) last spring -- started off very olivey, then shifted to a much lighter blueish green -- they also stopped laying entirely for a while, then one started up again, the other went broody... now they're both back to laying, one lays slightly-greenish blue eggs and the other totally olive/mossy green. bizarre.

picture from a week or so ago:

the two on the top are the Amelia eggs -- campine pullet egg & cuckoo marans for comparison below.

They usually do not lose their brown that much except at the end of the laying cycle.

They look like Cream Legbar eggs.

They can't be cream legbar eggs. My cream leg bars are just babies a few weeks old. They have to be from the OE's. Nothing else in that coop / run except white egg laying Ncelandics and one BCM. Not possible.

If they just started laying, they may not have the Brown working correctly yet.

Diva, we're giving out full size candy bars tomorrow night. Just sayin'. In case you're in the area. I guess since we probably won't get a single trick-or-treater, I should say we're eating full sized candy bars tomorrow night.
