That is twisted!

I look forward to seeing your new coop Eva!

I hear ya Jason! I too hope it gets above freezing so i can clear my driveway. DH went to look at the road conditions, as he has to go on a business trip early tomorrow. There are a couple of dicey spots that need shoveling.

Ive gone out twice now to defrost waterers and give them warm water to drink. The welsummers aren't budging out of the coop, but some of the barnevelders are out.

I spent yesterday afternoon chasing some troublemakers. They were so desperate to keep their feet out of the snow, that I found this:

The cockerel flew onto the wrong side of the fence, of course. It took me a while to get him and put him back in the run. The pullet flew to the roof of the coop. Then, another pullet got out. I got close enough and grabbed her tail, so I could get another hand on her back and all of her tail feathers came right out. I got her, inspected that she wasn't injured, and put her back in the coop. Then I tossed snowballs at the pullet on top of the coop until she flew down where she was supposed to be.

they look fabulous up there!

Brrrrr. 19 degrees here this morning. The chicken gate was frozen to the ground.
You probably know this, but you can pour hot water on things outside and they unstick. I used to have to pour hot water on my metal shed coop doors to get them to open.

We had 13 degrees this morning.

I found out this morning to my chagrin that I got frostbitten toes yesterday doing chicken chores. I just ordered a pair of insulated boots from sportsmansguide - my feet/toes are numb in places from previous frostbite so this is going to be a big help to me.

Don't get frostbite everyone!

Exactly zero here this am.
