Stella's Social Club

This one of my sweet old baby boy, Isaac, I love. Big Ike is about to turn 5 years old in February, so like my DH, is close to Social Security, lol, and I wanted a portrait of him before he was gone. He was scared to do a white chicken, but I think he did just fine. I adore that rooster, he's such a love. It will take three to five weeks to fully cure then it goes on my office/craft room wall. Here is King Isaac, surveying his domain.

My first "favorite rooster!" I just love ol' Isaac!

I know crows are not always the most popular birds, I love to watch them and usually have a family that hangs around each summer. My dad sent me this - very bright bird!

That magnificent crow should be running the White House, you can "see" the wheels turning in his brain as he surveys the situation. I wonder if he was listening when the man discussed what the crow would have to do to reap the reward.

A beautiful bird too, the ones we have out here look very shaggy and unkempt.. I have seen them mob a hawk in a tree until the heavily out numbered bird finally took off.

WOW! That is just amazing! I had no idea either.

Diva - Yep. I agree with you.

Beautiful pic's Cyn.
Mary I don't think there is a perfect coop. I too have been trying to get mine into that category. Right now I have realized ,while trying to get the roost in a good position to clean with a base under it, It is too High for my heavy hens to jump off of safely

. Now I will have to build a bridge down from the roost.
Most of the hens fly down easily but the 1/4 English orp. comes down with a hard thud!!!!!!! I think she may hurt herself soon IF I don't build that ramp. Yours looks nice.

Happy New Year! The paintings are beautiful-- and good luck Mary!

The portraits are gorgeous, your husband is a very talented man- you picked a good one!!
Thank you both!

Kathy, I call Isaac my Nazi Rooster because he does the high stepping Hitler walk everywhere he goes. Part of it is arthritis, part of it is just him. I hear that his studly young son, Valentino, in Ky walks just like him, lol.

Well not what I hoped for!

Found seven birds inside the coop, 4 in nest boxes and 3 on the roosts.

Three Icelandics and Chatty Cathy not even inside the coop but roosting outside of the waterer and hose!

Brought them all in and tried to put them on the roosts but all hell broke looses I just shooed them out of the nest boxes after getting one to stay on the roost. I came back inside for an hour to let them settle down. Went back out and found 3 Icelandics in the floor but none in the nest boxes.

I gave up for tonight. Maybe they'll have all day to play around in there and figure it out. Dang, Icelandics that don't roost! Go figure.

Giving my friends here on the Stella thread a heads up about our Blue Roo Creations Winter Clearance for January. We've slashed prices of the winter gear big-time! Please go cruise through the store-we've had some sales, but there are plenty of beautiful items left. We'll be rotating them out soon to make way for more spring and summer fare like this pretty spring tote bag I'm working on (shown with only one strap, but it will have two)

Now, time management issue here-when, oh, WHEN, will I be able to finish my own bed quilt? Anyone want to machine quilt it for me, eh? Ack, I have to do it, but when the heck do I have time, doing all this other stuff???

Mary and Kathy have you tried curtains on your nesting boxes? Supposedly hens like privacy but it'd also supposed to keep them from roosting on the edges like that.

I havnt ever used them but I've seen pictures
