Stella's Social Club

Thank you all my friends, Dad had a great life and we were able to spend some good time with him right up to the end.  We were also able to take him home, and have him stay there, with his things around him and his friends to visit.  His cat Angel spent 90% of her time on his bed next to him, ignoring visitors, noise, and disruption - things she normally disliked.  She came home with me yesterday and will stay with either myself or my sister for the rest of her life, she earned it.

Ke
lly I loved the video, bees do not bother me much and hopefully I can learn how to be a good beekeeper.

I hope my passing is as dull of love.
More /hugs.

I hate septic tanks. Our plumbing is bad enough here id go crazy if we also had a septic tank!!

I am re-homing my Isbar and Cream Legbar roosters. I kept most of the girls as layers. I am sending one or two girls along with each boy so they have friends. I am just unwilling to spend any more money on these two breeds. Three years and I am out! I am going back to the Icelandics that I love and possibly one other breed. My big coop will house my layer girls and my "golden" girls. I'll be making a "No Boys Allowed" sign to hang in their coop!

With my birds and hers in my garage, Kelly says it smells worse in there than the septic tank odor in the house!

What are friends for Kelly?

Kelly brought me three wellies and a barred rock hatching egg! She also brought me the sweetest dishcloth with hens on it. That will never be used!

Farmer Fred is late picking up the birds because his the water heater at his house burst. What a day we are all having! But, I got to cancel a 10:00 a.m. dental appointment to clean up sewer water. WIN / WIN for me!

OMG, what a time you're having! I'm so sorry! Sometimes, you're the pigeon and sometimes you're the statue. I guess it's your turn to be the statue. My DH is going to be gone tonight for a sleep study. Doc says he has sleep apnea which is why no meds have ever been able to really control blood pressure. They'll have a time getting him to sleep before 1 a.m. He's supposed to be there by 8 p.m. and leave at 6 a.m. And this new doc, which we are forced to go to because the gubbermint keeps removing more and more of our military medical plans, says he doesn't do pain meds. Well, good grief, good luck controlling his blood pressure is he won't control his pain from degenerative disc disease-he is completely missing several discs now. Doctors don't listen. They have blinders on and want to put everyone in the same box.

Here is the video of the activity of my bees on Sunday. I was sitting there with them flying all around me.

That is so neat and relaxing, at least on video.

Kelly arrived to do a rooster homing with our friend Fred his morning only to find me ankle deep in septic tank water back up into my house and basement!

I'm sorry the Isbars and Cream Legbars didn't work out for you. But I'm glad you'll be spending more time on the Icelandics!

Greeenfire finally acknowledges that the Isbars they imported were closely related resulting in immune deficiencies in the offspring. They have imported new Isbars and of course we can pay $99.00 per chick to start over or blend with our new flocks. They have imported the correct color Cream Legbars now too and we can pay $150.00 per chick to fix that problem. Stick a fork in me. I. Am.Done!

I have Icelandic hatching eggs coming tomorrow which will give me offspring from all six "known" importations of Icelandic chickens. These will come from someone who has all six lines running together and I will keep them that way. That way I can mix and match against my other two pens. Raising chickens may become fun again instead of a life and death struggle. For them, not me! I was well into that myself before I got chickens.

Kelly just left after returning to collect her animal crates. She brought me a 2 pump Starbucks mocha!

While she was loading the crates, the two hawks that hang out on the power line humped. Right in front of us! Tucker chased the female away after she shook it off!

What a day. I still haven't mustered up the courage to go down to the basement.

Ditto!

The bees don't bother me either, unless they buzz my face.

I've never seen hawks mate, that was strange.

Things were about to get stranger. Must be a slow crime day in town. A deputy sheriff just left our house after parking and listening for 15 minutes. Coincidentally the low-life is working on the deck across the street at the same time.Hmmm, wonder who called.

Haha I'm glad you are going to stick with something you love and simplify life a little. That sounds heavenly.... and I totally agree about GFF and their silly "Now you need THIS import line!" to get their $$$ out of you. Yuck. I'm happy to work with the CLs and Isbars I have, they are working fine for me and I will let somebody else discover whatever new kinks are in their newest imports and buy from THEM later.
