I bought the soda bread at the bakery next to the market.  Still hot from the oven!  

I have to ask.. what is soda bread? I saw some yesterday and it had raisin in it. I don't do raisins.

We had corned beef boiled. Then the next day we pan fried the lwftovers so they were all crispy. That part is my favorite!

Think the difference between biscuits and yeast rolls.

It's all in the leavening Baby!

Soda breads use Baking soda and something sour to counter act the bitter of the Baking Soda. Gluten is not as necessary.

Yeast breads requite gluten to trap the bubbles from the yeast to make the bread rise. You need to get the correct amount of Gluten to streatch the dough and get the yeast to make the bubbles. Soda bread does this much faster with less "technique"

catching up slowly on things here -- was down in SF for a conference most of last week, and yesterday out in Point Reyes talking to some of the ranchers -- and today trying to catch up, plus introducing four newly-hatched silver campine chicks to the two-week-olds in the brooder.

have been away too much to cook anything yesterday, but have a hunk of corned beef in the fridge, will cook later today... probably will boil, but poking around for ideas...

I had dinner at a friend's house on Sunday, truly delicious corned beef and veggies. She said she put in the slow cooker on low with 1/2 bottle of beer (recipe called for Guiness but she only had Molson) along with the herb pack and some peppercorns at 8 am, added cut up cabbage, baby carrots and potatoes at noon, and cooked for another 4-6 hours. The corned beef was so flavorful, and the potatoes were especially delicious.

This morning I was working in my photo studio trying to get a good pic of the apple whiskey cake. No make-up. Hair not done. Wearing yoga pants and a Tractor Supply T-shirt that says "I don't need your attitude I have enough of my own." The phone rings. It is a reporter from the local paper and a photographer asking if I will come out and let them take pictures of me with my animals!

I hate having my picture taken on a good day but really. Today? Anyway I sent them pics of my house for their story yesterday. They were going to interview someone else today and he had a heart attack before they got there. Tag. I'm it!

I asked for five minutes to pull myself together somewhat then went out and did it. I am sure it will be a horror but what ever. It is down and over with!
