Mary,
Did you like that "Ina Fridays Crunchy Noodle Salad?"

I have been craving some recipe with cold pasta (I love spaghetti or angel hair noodles). I am looking for a recipe.

Today we had our garden spot tilled.

I hope I am able to work in it.

Baby chicks came outside with mama.....

I really should name this girl, because I like her.....

We are off to Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, in Mansfield, MO tomorrow. It is an hour and a half away. Hope it is a nice day. We were gonna go there one other time, and did not make it, so I am excited to go.

I like that hen, too, Kathy. She deserves a name!

Hope you have fun gardening! We have garlic, rhubarb and potatoes up. Too early to do anything yet except start seeds inside at our altitude. Will be able to plant outside by the beginning of May. We always do tomatoes, bell peppers, corn and okra and lately have planted squash and melons, though neither of those did anything last year. We have several new garden spots now and should have better luck.

The Barred Rock hens in the freshly turned soil are a very familiar sight, LOL. Mine are at my feet when digging.

One pear tree gets more pears each year, the Moonglow. Had 15 last year. This year, it is bloomed out beautifully and we hope it doesn't get frostbitten before the end of the month. The Bartlett has literally a bunch with 6 blooms, which is 6 more than last year. It's never had a pear on it and it's about 8 years old. The Orient has NO blooms and it's the same age. About to cut those two down.

Quote: Yep, yeast raised. I did the dough in my bread machine, then pulled it out and put in an oil coated bowl. Flipped it over and covered with a towel for the first rise. Then pulled it out and made the rolls, covered and let rise for the 2nd rise. Then baked.

Thank you for asking.
I am not going to complain. I think I just need to learn to "live with it."

That's not good. You've had a major surgery though, it will take time to heal completely.

That's a large garden area! I hope you fence it off, or those Barred Rocks won't let you have a garden!

My rhubarb is doing well. Potatoes are up and we've been getting some asparagus. Strawberries are in bloom. I planted sugar snap peas, but they aren't up yet.

nice garden spot. I wish I could have mine open like that . we have more deer than people per mile up here though and they lie to hang around the houses for food in the spring and summer especially once everything drys out
Halibut is a great tasting fish, along with Red Snapper.

Alaskan Salmon is wonderful! I used to go fishing for Steal head trout in the Sacramento river. They are very tasty too.

Sadly my Daughters think they will die if I cook fish.
I love any fresh rock fish you catch on a charter out by the Faralon islands

Yes, I liked the crunchy salad!

I am so jealous of your garden. We have so many gophers here that planting in the ground would be a waste of time for us and a big win for the gophers. Raised beds with hardware cloth over the bottoms is the only way I know. Plus since I can't breathe well when bending over I would probably end up face planted in the garden. But I am going to enjoy it vicariously through you. Pictures please!

Looks like the chicken are doing their part to work the soil!

Glad you are feeling well enough to take the trip to the seed company.

Mama Del and the chickletts re adorable.

We had boiled peel and eat shrimp and oysters for dinner last night - neither which I would have touched growing up.

I had shrimp last night too! Costco had HUGE shrimp for sale when I was there on Friday. I breaded them with panko and fried them. I was leaning towards garlic scampi, but DH wanted fried. I ate three and thought I would die, LOL

For breakfast this morning, I'm trying a recipe I cut out of the paper. You just use refrigerator crescent rolls for the dough, add a cream cheese mixture middle and some jam, then a drizzle of glaze. Cheese Danish in about fifteen minutes. What could be easier?
