Stella's Social Club

I'll try again. It's perfect, I loved it the second I saw it!
Amazing. That is exactly what Michael said too!

I love it! Tell Michael to sit on it and he won't see it.

I am embracing The Egg Farm concept!

My first husband and I collected much of our furniture and decor in Taiwan when we lived there. He never tired of it and for the 30 years we were married that was "our" style. Asian influenced. I grew to hate it.

After we divorced, my entire house and my clinic were decorated in antiques. I like to think very tastefully so. In my bedroom I had a tall wide ledge that went all the way across the room up to the vaulted ceiling. I had old suitcases and hat boxes by the dozens up there. The entire wall behind my bed was decorated with vintage purses and hats. In my living room I had matching cabbage rose print love seats facing each other and no sofa. It wasn't all bunnies and ribbons, just tasteful old things. What was comfortable and appropriate for a single woman, didn't necessarily work for a couple.

When I met Michael I gave it all up, sold some but donated most of it. I moved on to very modern design, then sort of Mediterranean. I like to think of this phase as getting back a little of my old style. I love being surrounded by things that lived another life before they were mine. When money was no object, I bought the real deal, but I tend not to do that anymore. Hence, the hours I spent in the Hobby Lobby!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've never even heard of Hobby Lobby, let alone know where it is.

And I've never had anything I'd call "style" either. My house is a hodge podge. Victorian couch, Western art on some walls, train art on the others (husband insistence), most of our wood furniture/cabinets in our house were made by DH's grandfather when he still did carpentry. Some of my grandmothers stuff that she gave me. LOTS of clocks - husband got me hooked on clocks. My grandparents gave us our grandfather clock for a gift, plus we have their clock now (stored at the in-laws house). Geez, I sound like a mess.

We jumped into goats with both feet this weekend! A friend called me out of the blue who knew I wanted goats and offered us a steal of a deal so she could reduce her herd. So we have 3 does and 1 buck, all Alpines from good milking lines. Still trying to decide names.

And here's Merlin the Menace looking innocent:

Sad news was we had to say goodbye to our 11 year old Aussie mix. She had cancer in her jaw and had gotten to the point she wouldn't eat. My oldest daughter took it hardest but we took our time saying our goodbyes and talked about her being in heaven with the puppy I had to put down when we were first married (severe seizures with no identifiable cause). Izzy was with us for 9 years so definitely a family member.
