Some flowers for you today, Kathy. Hope they cheer you up. This is my climbing Minnehaha rose, a tiny pom pom sized rose with mild fragrance that grows several feet each year and must be trimmed. The group at the end of the picket fence was from a stick of it I just shoved into the ground a few years ago-in that tangle is a brown thrasher's nest right now, I just found out today.

I'm still reading here and there, this is beautiful!

Thank you! They are not fully bloomed out yet, with hundreds still just buds. They bloom over a three week period and that's all until the next May. This rose was here when we bought the house and I researched for months to find out what it was, eventually finding a photograph of one in a gardening magazine.

Oh, I just noticed that you are in GA. We have a son on a mission there..in Powder Springs. When he first got there, all he could talk about was the beauty...the flowers, the trees, the birds. I used to live in Florida, North Carolina, and moved here from VA. So, I had told him how the flowers grow on the side of the road..that we want to grow here in our state..lol...and, I told him about the Red Cardinals. He was so excited when he saw his first one. They are beautiful. He loves the Orange honey suckle, I do believe because orange is his favorite color..but they are pretty!

Coincidentally, this Cynthia owned a house in Roy on the corner of 4200 West (egads, what was that address? 3300 S. 4200 W. or something like that), if I remember right. Used to be a cow pasture across from me, but I heard it's now a strip mall. Was stationed at Hill AFB twice. The first time we were there at the end of the 70's, my younger son was born in Ogden. We lived in Layton and Ogden. The second time, 12 years later, my oldest was in high school there and we lived in Roy from 1992-1994, then my DH retired from the AF and we moved back to GA.

Very cool. I grew up in Clinton from about 86 to 94. So we were there at the same time! My dad was air national guard at hafb. Loved visiting the museum there with all the airplanes. Been all over the county since then but we've put down roots in Oklahoma. I have a cousin on a mission in Peru I think and several more with their paper in.

Oh my goodness you two...it is a small world...after all. And one of you has my name..well, we have the same name.

lonny, that's great about the one on a mission, and several with papers in. Our son only has about 4 and a half months left. Can't wait to see my baby. He is our last.

Speckled..I think I remember that you are a Cynthia too. On another thread..the Easter Hatch A Long?

My husband was in the guard for 26 years. I like to say that he graduated. lol...He retired. Love the fact that the insurance is there for us. Not sure what we would be paying if we didn't have that Tri Care.

My biological father, a Marine who I was not fortunate enough to meet, shot at the age of 25 by one of Castro's firing squads in front of his mother. He told her that he was proud to die for what he believed in.

So many other family members served, including my own husband. My adoptive father is a WWll vet as was my adoptive mother. My FIL served in Korea.

So many precious memories from all of you! My grandfather was in the navy, so I'm thinking of him today. He was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. He survived, but so many did not.
