those river canyons are a tough place to fight a fire ,
the king fire as of last night is now finally 100% contained after 1 month
it will continue burning and smoldering in spots till the rain and snow come and stick around.

on another note the last rain caused some of the green stuff to start growing at the bottom of my property :)
I saw that! I was happy to see the King fire FINALLY 100% contained.

It looks like they are making progress on our fire here. The bombers were dropping all day and multiple helicopters. They are trying to keep it from going down into the canyon - if that happens, it will affect a lot more people.

I have a teeny bit of greenery showing up at my place too from our last rain.

I wonder if Tucker broke out (with the help of some Icelandics) and is headed for his nice comfy home.
The comfy home isn't good if nobody is there to feed him lobster and fish.

Maybe Mary left a key under the mat or doggy door.
Even so, Tucker won't cross certain flooring. So he'd be stuck waiting on the porch.

We're baaaack! Tucker did great at Aunt Cynthia's Bed and Biscuit Inn. He brought home a perfect report card and we are told the staff fell in love with him. He is a "real sweetheart" according to his report card.

When I called to see how he was doing last night, the girl told me he was wagging his tail and licking her hand. She said he was making a lot of dog friends and seemed to really be loving the staff.

The best thing????????

He has 9 likes on Facebook!

This was attached to his report card!

Well Mary  how are you and Michael and your grand daughter doing?

We didn't come home with report cards but we had a great time! Emily and I took my change jar from the laundry room to cash in at the Coinstar machine at the grocery store before we left. There was $210.00 after the fee so I gave it to her for trip. She came home with $315.00 after winning a $97.00 jackpot on a penny machine as we were walking out of the casino to come home!

We ate like pigs last night. I had king crab stacked a foot high on a platter. Michael had filet mignon, and Emily had shrimp scampi cooked table side. The server was fantastic and made her birthday dinner truly special. I left a nice tip and expressed my appreciation to the manager when we left. We gambled a bit before going to our room and ordering dessert !

I didn't sleep a wink all night as Michael was fighting the Taliban in his sleep and kicking the crud out of me all night. I finally retreated to a bench in the bathroom when he grabbed my arm. He was apparently in some sort of sand trench, engaged in hand to hand combat. Jeeze. I should sleep well tonight in my own room, away from the combat zone.

Emily stayed over tonight to help Michael put up Halloween decorations tomorrow. I will probably spend the day loving on my Tucker!

We changed Jack's hoof dressing today and, without going into detail, it was disgusting, but exactly what the vet was looking for. We put another duct tape boot on, coverin a Betadine and sugar poultice, and will change that on Sunday. He'll need dressings for a total of ten days to two weeks. We were supposed to keep him corralled for two weeks but Michael left a gate open long enough for an escape so he is up laying down tonight on his favorite flat pasture with Diana. The vet says that is fine as long as he can get up there and back. He was a perfect gentleman for the bandage change. I am dreading removing the one we put on. We used gorilla tape!

I just want him back to his old happy self and out of pain. Poor sweet thing.
