In really cold climates (like Alaska and Canada) they actually wrap the hives in plastic and/or insulation. You have to be careful not to seal it completely up because just like with chickens moisture build-up is a problem in a beehive in the winter.

PITA neighbor sold the house to someone with teenagers who "moo" and "oink" at me when I am in the yard. I know I have gained weight but really? You move into a neiborhood and start that? But it makes me care not one bit about my roosters crowing at all hours of the day and night.

The drug house has been pretty quiet lately. It is still in foreclosure, but the auction keeps getting postponed.

As for herds of baby emu, no way!
