I think I'd plant a new tree where he cut the other one down. In fact, I think I'd line the road with trees.

He'll be six weeks out from surgery on Friday! He shouldn't be lifting really heavy things yet but light duty is good. I was going to pick the stuff up myself but he offered to help. Then when he saw how much the guy cut, he wanted to go dump it on his driveway. I prefer using civil remedies. Luckily I won.

I don't think he'll be doing it again. I hope when the cops showed up he had a moment to re-think his decision to cut other people's trees. Hopefully in the future he'll go through the proper channels if he thinks the trees are a safety concern or in non-compliance with code.

I have to hire someone to haul the mess away then get a quote for re-planting. I have to send him a request for payment when I get an amount. If he doesn't pay, I can sue him in small claims court and contact the sheriff's office again.

Who cuts other people's trees? Up and down 2 miles of road! Who does that?
