Well, Lukka got off the nest night before last. She was sitting on ten eggs which means that she is still laying! I only have two Icelandic pullets and one of them has been broody for months. Lukka didn't collect ten eggs from the other pullet in a few days! I candled the eggs left in Lukka's nest and three had blood rings. I guess Isi has still got it going on too!
The little broody pullet is sitting on two eggs. One was not developing and the other has a little embryo growing. I hope it makes it to hatch. That poor girl has not been willing to give up!
Moving update. I cancelled the deal on the new house. Since we don't have a decent offer on this house, I didn't want to risk my deposit on the new one and did I want to hold the seller up from finding another buyer. It was beautiful and the view was unreal, but the timing was wrong. We are accustomed to getting good offers on our houses within a day of listing, so we didn't expect this.
I am also struggling with giving up my blogging persona if I buy a property where I can't have a few chickens. I was also conflicted about having enough property for chickens per county zoning code, but having an HOA tell me that I can't.
So we are continuing to look until we get an offer here. We did a drive-by on a little farmhouse yesterday and both fell in love with it. But, it is overpriced and we aren't ready yet. So we twiddle our thumbs. I try to go through cabinets and sort through things but I hate making a mess.
Yesterday a realtor called and said she had a client that just had to see this house right away. She asked to show it in 30 minutes. The client was "heading to her office to come over." We rushed around dusting and turning on lights and getting out so they could see the house. We came back two hours later assuming they had come and gone. Two hours after that I got a call for the realtor saying they didn't make it because they were "running late!" She wanted to let me know they would be coming to see it in a couple of days. Well, that is just fine, but I am not dusting or leaving for them the next time! They can tour the house with Tucker barking and snarling at their ankles!
