Stella's Social Club

We put some drawn frames in there and spritzed them with sugar water, then shook the branch and the whole swarm dropped right in. We put the lid on and shook the rest of the loose bees off the branch so they would go inside. Yes I saw exactly which hive it came from. I put up videos on our new facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/chickenfanatics
That is so cool. It wouldn't be if you lost them, but if they stay put, it's worth it. A split without having to split them yourself.

I find the thought of keeping bees very interesting, but I'm not sure I would be up for all the work. I think I'll continue to buy my honey.
They are worth it. A bit of work, but not as much as keeping chickens.

Bees won't normally, either....

As a matter of fact, this is our 5th year of keeping bees and I've had TWO stings- one when a hive got DROPPED, and one when we had a "sealed" up box of bees in the back of the van and a few escaped. Lonny has been stung A LOT but he hates to wear his suit and only does it when he thinks it will be necessary. My kids get stung when they pick up bees or step on them, and that's it. They are really content to stay in their hive and make honey and not bother anyone.

Speaking of bees- did anyone else see this on the news today??
