Rinda you sound wise beyond your years in being prepared for adversity.

Downsizing now key to us right now. I loved the whole hobby farming thing. We have been at it almost seven years and the longer I do it, the more I realize it's a younger person's game. I should be knitting and baking bread except I don't know how to knit. Cynthia isn't thinking "I win. I know how to knit and I have all the tomatoes!"

The sale of this house is on track to close on July 20th.

Well, I don't know how to knit, I only quilt and crochet, LOL. Mary, you're doing what we did about 13 years ago. And things are still evolving as the world gets more complicated, stranger and less stable. Hope the rest of this goes well for you. Even if I don't post, I check in on your situation from time to time.

I know how to crochet as well, but my kids keep me too busy these days. I have a half finished blanket in my cabinet.

Mary - sounds like you made a wise choice on houses. Taking a huge gamble on a well is not worth it. If the bank fixes it, then fine, but why should you take the risk?

I love to quilt.... and this fall and winter I'm going to get going, I have a few quilts in progress, I can't wait to get them finished.... I crochet too but I love quilting much better....

x2
ditto on the crocheting - I have many "UFO's" around the house.

You were right to pick the "kitchen" house. Besides the huge well issue, there was also the neighbor-shared road-dogs running loose issue which had the potential to be a big mess.

I've never heard of a well costing that much. Must be a California thing. Last one we had drilled cost about $6000, though it as not as deep as the one we have now.

The neighbor has had some kids at her cabin for days now. The screaming (and crying when they fight) is making me nervous. I don't like human sounds anymore, especially bratty kids. They were playing on the other neighbor's 400 ft driveway which runs near my property line down the hill so they were making noise on two sides of me. I guess I don't trust preteen or teen kids running amok in the country. They've already cleaned the blackberries off my fence on one side. Thankfully, those are the sour ones, LOL. Yeah, I'm mean now. I don't want neighbors. I wouldn't buy a property with a shared ANYTHING, driveway, well, whatever.

Mary too much aggravation for me re: what those idiots do or don't do about the house. No ice cream(left) to settle my nerves. Please wake me when it's over. I'm pulling for the house with THE KITCHEN !!
