FINALLY!

I inspected my split today, and found my lovely new queen. She's been laying up a storm too, as there are a lot of eggs in the frames.

She was running from me, but I managed to get a quick picture.

Here she is in the middle right. The one with the golden abdomen.

Wow - great picture! I think I can see the little eggs in there! I don't know much about bees but I'm very interested in the whole bee world.

Beautiful queen Kelly!

We were in some of our hives yesterday, got 5 of them them double boxed up for winter and eavaluated the fall honey flow. Looks like it's going to be a good one! After a very wet spring and moderately wet summer, we've already had two good rains in the last two weeks and the ragweed and goldenrod are in full bloom. Lots of bright orange pollen coming in!

We have two new "family" members at our house! After seeing two mice in the house (hubby mowed the pasture last week) we decided we had to go ahead and get a few more mousers. Adopted this sweet barn cat from a rescue yesterday, the kids named her Rosie (after Rosalinda the Pokemon). She had just had a litter when she was rescued so the rescue kept her until they could fix her.

And last week this little guy/girl showed up on our back porch. Looks about 6-8 weeks old to me. I think it was dumped. Won't let us near but getting better about allowing us to get closer. I'm leaving food out for it at night. Eventually if we can't get close enough to touch it I will trap it and have it spayed or neutered.

Not the deck, the chicken yard !!!!!!!!!!!
Well now if you can afford it how much can it hurt? Chickens can never have to much room.

Very nice. I've considered it since there are far to few bees on this place.

We have a new cat here too. I think she was dumped since we've so few neighbors and she's so friendly. We're keeping her indoors for now since she's gone into heat and her appointment is next month. No one claimed our post on CL.

She is a good mouser. She began to leave dead mice in the drive shortly after her arrival. She'll have no shortage that is for sure.

Nice photo. I'm glad she's working out.

Good job to all you cat-adopters!!
