He loves the down comforter. Usually he wraps himself up in the one on the couch. But I recently set a table up off to the side of the living room to work on jewelry, and he whined and bugged me until I put a warm dog bed down by my feet - he really is just too cute

Kathy, did he have a fall? How is he doing?

Yes. He fell. He was atop the ladder - about 10 feet up. He had a half sheet of plywood and a gust of wind knocked it and him off the ladder. This was Wednesday. So, we were in ER for HOURS. They sent him home (wrapped in a cast "boat") and he had to return in the AM to the orthopedic doc that was coming to town for the "specialty clinic." So, Thursday 8AM to 10AM we were at the local hospital again. Doc saw him and sent him to Joplin. He met us there and did surgery. ALL day at 2 hospitals. He got out of recovery at 8:30PM and spent the night there. I brought him home today. Too much swelling to really get inside - to the bone. So, he just did a reduction and internal fixation. Return in a week (hoping the swelling is reduced) and schedule surgery to finish this procedure. The doctor told him he is pretty much on bedrest, with his foot elevated above the level of his heart, for a week.

I never realized how much was involved. Just being at an emergency room, or waiting in the hospital for hours on end, is horrible- and that's the good part. Then the actual surgery and recovery and bills - I hope he is getting something for the pain. Kathy, hope you are getting some "me time," in it's just as tough on you in other ways.

Oh Kathy what an ordeal for you guys! I hope Mike heals well. There is just no good time for an injury like that. I am so sorry. Keep us posted on his progress and your sanity, or lack thereof.

It just seems to have happened at one of the worst times. We have all the wall paper removed from the kitchen - ready to paint. The living room will be painted, too. New carpet install is the 19th, and we we suppose to remove the old carpet and baseboards. Outside - in the middle of coop clean outs and selling chickens. (Mike does all the outside chores). I am only gonna keep 20 or so chickens. All the rest must go.

Our son, Travis, from Iowa came down today. He is gonna get the outside work done. Tyler, our son here in town, is gonna do our carpet removal and painting. He has a crew at work that will come out on the weekend and do it all with him. Somebody is gonna work on the tree house - BUT, it rained today and got the wood wet! All of it is treated wood, EXCEPT the siding part that needs painted or stained.

Now, I must get to town and buy the paint and supplies.

I am almost out of chicken feed - need to go get feed.
I am out of water softener salt - need to go get salt.

The day he had the accident is the day we were going to go to town and run errands.

Oh, and I also had to take Cylis to the hospital with us, because we had no babysitter. Kayson went to his other grandma's house, but Cylis has no other place to go. It is a struggle, having to tote around toddlers at my age!
