I never had a persimmon.  What does it taste like?

Hachiya persimmons are really for cooking only. They are unbelievably tart and totally make you pucker up. Not pleasant. You have to wait for them to get mushy before using them. Fuyus are good to eat when hard. They have a sweet mild taste.

All Mary's pictures are beautiful -   Mary, you could be a food stylist/photographer for food magazines!

Thank you but I am no where near good enugh. I love doing it though and my goal is to take better pictures for my blog. My first few years the pics were horrendous!

Tucker started barking just before midnight last night. He was in the master bedroom watching televison with Michael. Then Michael walked past my door and said there was someone in our front yard. He saw them drive in and get out of a truck and come to the door. I was kind of freaking that he was going to open the door and Tucker would run out in killer mode. We made sure they were gone and opened the door to find the first box of produce for the CSA I signed up for on the porch! Ay midnight!

Our delivery day is Wednesday so they were very close. Anyway, now that we know we won't be freaked out by it.

I opened the box and the item smack down on top was a bulb of fennel! Yay, not. :th

I tried a small box this time with a combination of veggies and fruits. I am going to go back to just veggies next week. The fruit didn't impress and we eat more vegetables.

Quote: Thanks for the description, I have never eaten them either.

Odd time for a delivery of food. No raccoons or other critters that might smell the food, tear open a box and help themselves.

Yikes - way to scare the heck out of you! Mike's right - your resident racoons could have had a party on your porch if Michael and Tucker hadn't been awake.

I was just on their Facebook page and someone said they stopped service becuase the late deliveries caused the dog to bark and wake everybody up. I am not too concerned about it at this point, even with the raccoons. I have motion sensors that would probably keep them from the front door. Hopefully!

I like the idea of delivery because I hated driving to the pick up site. The window of time allowed for pickups was small so I had to plan my day around it. The nice thing is with this one I can cacel anytime and don't have to pay and commit to 6 months in advance.
