I got 12 eggs last night! I found them on the front porch this morning with my vegetable delivery.

I fed some cooked barley to the chickens this morning along with the trimmings from the veggies in the box. They were happy chickens! Then Judy sounded an alarm about something she saw and they all ran back into the coop. She sure takes over the rooster roll overtime she has had the opportunity. She definitely is showing her age but I couldn't love her more. She's been with us for four moves! Now that is embarrassing.

I can't believe how good the chickens look after molting and with no rooster damage. They just look so pretty. The little Isbar that had been with Kelly's hooligans has grown back all her feathers and she is gorgeous. If those boys could just see her now!

Now if someone would just lay an egg!

I am going to watch the video in bed tonight on my iPad. Tucker and I snuggle up early since it is so cold and watch TV or take a class of some kind or another online. Well, I take the class, not Tucker. But he does watch TV.

I got some gorgeous broccoli in the box this morning and it has really long stems. I love that part of the broccoli and they always cut it off for the supermarket. Broccoli cheese soup maybe?

Yes!

The stems are very tasty. I to peel them though.

Kathy are you concentrating on Orps? Love to see some more pictures.
No. I am actually concentrating on getting rid of chickens! Can't ya tell? I am too old to be taking care of a bunch of chickens. It was nice when Mike was doing all the chores!
I just want to keep about a dozen. My problem is - I don't know which ones I can bear to part with! I love those big Orps. I also love love love my old bloodline of Barred Rocks and the beautiful New Hampshires.

I love broccoli and cauliflower cheese soup! I made some a week ago and Mike was disappointed when there was no more leftovers.

Today, I am going to make this simple Runza casserole . . . .

2 lbs. hamburger
2 onions, chopped
4 c. shredded cabbage
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls
1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Use 9"x13" pan. Begin to brown hamburger and onion for a few minutes in a large pan and add cabbage to steam. Spread 1 tube of crescent rolls over bottom of pan. Spread meat on top and add cheese. Place second tube on top and pinch together again. Bake 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cover last 10 minutes to soften crust. Perfect for Runza lovers and so much easier than making individual ones.
