Rinda that cake is fabulous. I just love the detail! Be careful. When word gets out you'll be baking for everything! And your kitchen will never be clean again. I know this for a fact! Great job. Now I want popcorn and everyone else wants marshmallows.

Speaking of marshmallows, my kitchen dining and family rooms were covered in powdered sugar today. Emily was supposed to drop a marshmallow onto a pile of powdered sugar and I would take a picture of the poof. Well, her aim sucks bigtime, so with the first thud the powdered sugar flew all over including on me, in my lens, etc.

I finally got out one of my big ligkt boxes and cut a marshmallow sized hole in the top for her to drop the marshmallow through to eliminate the need for her to aim.

We never got a picture we really liked after hours of trying so we abandoned the project.

I got the nicest gift from Diva today! She sent me this great tote bag. That is a big fat lie about eggs around here though! We feed chickens, and they don't return the favor. Thank you Diva. That was very thoughtful, and I love it. Going to hang it on my old ladder in the hallway and hope to remember to take it to the store with me when I go to buy eggs!

Hehehe CUTE bag!

I have actually had people start asking if I will do cakes for money. Makes me nervous!! Free (or materials cost) for friends and family is one thing, mistakes don't matter as much to me then haha! But a friend wants me to make a fancy tiered wedding cake for her next year and it uses Fondant. So I'm trying out some fondant cakes this year. This was a super easy introduction to fondant really. And making the "popcorn" was fun! It was the easiest method I found online, some of the other "fake popcorn" methods were just too time consuming. And I didn't want to use real popcorn.

I think it would be a great idea IF you limited it to a certain number of cakes in a certain length of time. Meant to augment your income NOT replace it. You have so many other things in your life, it wouldn't be good to work yourself to death over cakes. Just some you could fit in when desired.

We had a cake auction for a fundraiser for the youth at church tonight. This was my contribution.

It's a two layer chocolate cake. With marshmallow popcorn (storebought marshmallows, sorry!

I don't think that photo is so bad. I imagine you were looking for more of a sugary poof

Cool, that was very kind of Diva!

I agree with Diva and Mary, sometimes these things can take over your precious spare time. My suggestion would be to establish what your expenses are, including your time, and charge accordingly. You will enjoy yourself just as much, and not come to resent doing it.
