Stella's Social Club

Tyson looks like he's dying to get some sleep or maybe just sunglasses. He's such a nice looking boy, is he part boxer?
We don't know what he is..... just a mutt. His mama (Nellie) was a little thing, compared to him. He was as big as she was when he was still a nursing pup!

Kathy, That pic of the kids with Tyson and Nellie is a great one! It's hard to believe Nellie could have such a large pup! Was he the only pup born?

I'm glad to hear your neighbors are animal lovers and don't mind having Fred and Wilma visit....so funny about Tyson circling them. He was probably trying to turn them around to go back home.....they obviously weren't listening!

I hope everyone is enjoying this thread. I know I am and Stella seems to like it too! It just didn't seem as comfortable posting personal stuff on the Icelandic thread of late.
I just found it! How dare you guys move without letting me know....I even took an infraction for you all! LOL I am glad I got here....so carry on!

RIP poor little Cream Legbar girl. I should have taken better care of you. Michael should have been more careful when building the coop, not leaving screws lying around. You deserved better and from what happened to you I have learned a lot.

Sorry you lost your girl. But at least there's the consolation it wasn't something contagious.

It does make me feel better than I've been so relentless with DH to pick up any staples he drops when hanging the wire on the runs and in the coops. I've been telling him the dangers of shiny, sharp objects. Now I don't feel so OCD. But this is something that could have happened to anyone.

At least it is a good reminder for everyone.

Good morning all! Kathy so glad you found your wandering emus. Nosey little things, aren't they?

Thanks Deb. It makes it better if anyone learns from my mistakes.

Welcome Molly and Welasharon. Sorry about the infraction! That sucks. I hate that there was such a dust-up over there. It was one of those situations where I was ****** if I did and ****** if I didn't.

Waiting for two more cream legbars to hatch, one today and one tomorrow. I ended up with 9 cream legbars so far, 3 boys, 3 girls and 4 whites. I am probably not keeping any of the whites. I will keep the boys and one or two of the girls. I promised the other girls to customers who got all whites and males. I'll ship when they are a couple of months old. Out of the three boys it should be easy to find a keeper or two to replace Reggie.

I hatched out one Isbar intentionally because the egg color was so pretty. It was a splash. I hatched out four from the eggs that were hidden and started developing in the yard. One of those chicks had eyes stuck together yesterday, but after a day of ointment and warm water washing, it is fine today! It is black. I also hatched out three blues, one chick died during the night and another has bilateral slipped tendons and will be culled. So I am up by three Isbars, a blue, a black, and a splash. I am hoping one is a boy so I can have an extra rooster. I learned my lesson the hard way by losing Reggie. Now I have to wait six months to grow out a replacement.

Random picture day today!

Mama broody brought her Legbar babies outside today. (the past 2 days she kept them in the coop, but it's super hot today)

So I put a new waterer outside at chick level. (they have one already inside) Of course, the turkeys and my barnie rooster had to check it out first.

My Lav Ameraucana pullet - she's 9 weeks old.

A barnie pullet that I'm eagerly awaiting to lay. I've got a while to wait, she's only 19 weeks old and barnies are sloooooooooow to lay.

This is what happens when you do ANYTHING around turkeys.

And my shavings bag layer had to check it out too. She corrupted another Icelandic girl to lay there too. Don't let the sweet face fool you - she like to bite fingers.

Briet and her look alike. Different combs and shanks.

And a 9 week old wellie pullet.
