Naw, it looks like you might have one or two.

But I know nothing, except that I have 15 poults. Other than the ones my DS raised for 4H (nearly 20 years ago), this is my first experience with them too and mine are still babies. Well except the one I hatched in May and have nothing to compare there.

I was told it's the same as chicks, bigger, redder faster, more skin, larger snood, you have a boy.

Mahonri here. Checking in from Hades. I don't have many chickens left. (I do have 10 Icelandic hens and Drekki Jr., two leghorns, a production red, two EEs, an Olive Egger, an FBCM, an Australorp and a couple of pure bred Wheaten Ameraucanas.

This next spring, I'll be ordering day old chicks. I've decided it's cheaper than hatching.

Hoping for rain.

Luv ya all,

M

Kelly, that is too wierd. Maybe 14 miles is a big difference!

Dar, did you lose them from heat? OMG. That is so sad if that is what happened. I lost a turkey poult but that's been it so far. Hope you get some relief from the heat soon. We miss you!

Deb do you really think I only have one or two girls! Yikes I wanted to keep a quad. What, is Porter's only incubating boy eggs?

Kelly, I thawed the three types of apricots out today and made 43 jars of jam! I made the regular apricot first then I did the red Velvet. I thought maybe they were spoiled because it smelled funny. Then I tasted it while it was cooking and it tasted funny. I checked online and found out that the black and red velvet apricots are actually apriums! Aha! It was the plum I was tasting. I made three 4 oz jars of each flavor so we could test them. Remind me next time you come over. The best part of the whole day? I didn't trash my kitchen! Normally when I can, I have to call Merry Maids!

I only lost two to the heat this year and one for some unknown reason. Two Icelandics, a gorgeous hen that looked like a light brown rosecombed leghorn, a little roo and then my pure white Ameraucana roo died last Monday and we have no clue why.

I sold most of the remainder as I had too many, I did bring in a goodly amount of $ so that helped pay for feed.
