OK, I'll take a guess, though it may be a little early to be sure.
Quote: Those would be my guesses as well. That was why I said "a couple of girls" or maybe one.....
Hope you don't mind me popping in, you all have a nice friendly little thread going on here. That jelly looks marvelous Mary! Did I tell you that I ended up with 3 from your Isbar eggs? Hatched Friday evening! Only saw movement from 2 but one egg I couldn't really see into and incubated it anyway- and it was a splash! One of the two blacks died today though
. Also lost 2 Ameraucana from that hatch, so down to 5/8. Same symptoms, got weak over the course of an hour or two, laid down to sleep and didn't wake up. Do you think they were affected somehow from that night the incubator got unplugged?
Hubby went to a chicken auction Friday on his own (if you knew him you would know this was a BAD idea!). He was told to get one or two good layers if possible. You know the news is bad when he starts rattling off everything he got and you stop him to say, "Wait a minute, how much did you spend??" and he answers, "You're going to be mad but..."
What can I do but laugh now? He came home with THIRTY EIGHT CHICKENS!!!!!
Still finding places for them all...
And a picture for a smile... when I posted this on Facebook I had to add a disclaimer that I don't USUALLY allow the kids to troupe them into the kitchen but you guys UNDERSTAND chickens and kids!
Hi Rinda! I saw your post on the Isbar thread about hatching three. Sorry you lost one. I had bad luck with the 14 eggs I found laying in the yard developing in the heat. Only four hatched and one had dry eyes and another had a swollen belly that took a few days to clear up.
Good luck on your next batch. Come back and visit us. We have fun here!
