I finally got some pictures taken today in my NH pen.
This is Archie that won CH American at State Fair

I'd like to see more development in his chest, but he is only 5 and a half mos, so hopefully he'll fill out more. My backup boy, I prefer his chest and topline, but he has a couple of funky feathers on his right wing. I was going to cull him, but a judge friend of mine told me I should wait until his next molt as an adult as the problem may resolve itself.

I pulled an ameraucana hen and a bunch of eggs out from under my broody turkey and cut down her nest basket in an attempt to break her. There were many viable eggs and I just didn't have the heart to scrap them so I moved the AM to a hutch to see if she would sit and of course she did. I'd guess they are about a week from hatching. The turkey, who has been sitting for 2 months now, immediately claimed another nest basket and is back to being her normal hissy self

I gave her 3 turkey eggs so we'll see how serious she is.

When I checked on my broody Icelandic hen last night, she had some pips in the eggs (wellies and black sex link eggs). This morning, she has 3 wellie chicks out and 1 zipping - nothing yet on the sex link. She's such a sweet broody too, just lightly pecks me while I was removing the shells.

Not like my "other" velociraptor broody.

Good morning everyone! Jack is better today though still limping badly he was able to walk to the fence to meet me. I detect a smile and a twinkle in his eye not seen in recent days. Here he is with the "not that fat" Diana at his side.

Good news. Jack's hoof abscess opened and drained today in exactly the spot the vet said it would! He is barely limping tonight. Dr. Goss said that of all the things that could cause lameness this is the best case senario. It is on the top of the hoof where it is less likely to get infected again and the wound will close completely with scar tissue. Jack is walking tonight with just a slight limp after being barely able to stand for a few days. I am so relieved.

Glad to hear Jack is doing better. I have a paint mare that just went through that. It is so hard to watch them try to walk in such pain!
