Oh shoot - it just occurred to me...........if I have to put a bootie in that chicks foot AND it is under Dusty, who takes chunks out of my hands............…oh shoot. And then to get the bootie off……

No, I don't. You can come over and get a pair though.

Surprisingly, my production red is a great mommy. (she's a witch otherwise, and if she weren't my son's chicken, she would have been gone ages ago) She has her babies out of the nestbox and they are cruising around the coop, eating and drinking.

I moved Dusty last night with her babies. Ooooooh was she ticked off! (and yes, I'm missing some skin too) I wasn't too sure she was going to settle back down on the babies, but she did. Checked on her babies this morning and the stuck one was just laying there. So I thought that it wouldn't make it. I just checked on them and the chicks toes have uncurled on their own and it's cruising around like nothing ever happened with the other 2 chicks.

My Icelandic broody took her 4 wellie babies out in the run yesterday. (about 2 weeks old now) They had a great time and thankfully, made it back up the ramp with mommy last night.
