Then your coops face East. Since our storms come from the South, you should be good with the open end where it is. They might get a bit wet, but not poured on.

the one thing with facing east though is the cold northern winds will not hit them. I am planning on facing mine in a North East Direction
 
My coops face North and it works well here. My pop door for the first coop is on the West side and it gets wet through the opening when we have bad storms. My 2nd coop has the pop door on the East side and it never gets wet. (but that coop has a larger overhang on the roof, so I'm sure that helps)

Well my Drekki Jr. ended up being too loud. Such a pretty roo.

He's headed to Heber to join Boston's flock tomorrow. Boston's flock needed some new blood because Blau died.

Can't believe it but I wan't some more Drekki Jr chicks so my wife's gonna have a cow but I'm pulling out the incubator tomorrow.... that or find someone local who would like to hatch some purebred Icelandics.

We are devastated. Raccoons killed all of our turkeys last night. The scene was so gruesome. Poor babies. I am unconsolable.

RIP Romeo and sweet girls.
