Mary,

Did he tie the dishwasher into a garbage disposal? Did he remember to knock out the metal plug? There's a plug inside the hookup, you need to remove it before you clamp the hose from the D/W. Just a possibility...............

I was staying at a condo once and the handyman had just installed a new D/W and forgot that step. We had the same problem. Of course, I didn't have to do any of the cleanup

My son just bought a new house, and guess what?! That is exactly what he did. AND, this weekend they are replacing all the wood floors that it ruined. Total replacement.

There was a big black flexible pipe under the sink. With the new sink, the garbage disposal is on the opposite side from the one we removed. He didn't want to change that pipe so he just used the same one. To stretch it to the other side he had to twist it so it was completely kinked. When I saw it I told him it didn't look right to me. I have been around construction all my adult life and never have I seen a sink pipe bent and squished flat like that. He insisted it was just an air vent for the disposal. I disagreed but he wouldn't listen. I knew better than to use the disposal or the dishwasher but I did anyway. I was going to wait until he wasn't around for a day and then sneak my contractor in to fix it. That is how I get things fixed or done correctly. I should have listened to my gut and not used the sink but instead I went outside and worked while the dishwasher was running! He was upstairs playing video games. I heard the water hitting the floor the moment I got back in the house. I just hope we got it off the wood floors before any damage could occur. I knew when I bought this place that he would destroy the wood floors that had been in this house for 120 years. Oh well it is what it is and it will never change. I just finished washing a ton of dinner dishes now I have to go dry them and put them away. By myself. of course.

I guess the answer is yes Deb, he routed the crooked pipe to the air vent and the dishwasher drained through there after blowing the cap off.

MEN! I know what you are saying.

YIKES... I too am STUFFED and I didn't feel like I ate that much. We had TG Dinner at my brothers.... but I'm going to do a turkey for Sunday dinner. Tomorrow I'll be climbing ladders and fixing Christmas lights as we put them up on the house, the trees, the bushes... etc.... I hope I can get up early enough to put in a hike and then clean both coops before the lights and Christmas tree go up etc.. etc...

Everyone is in bed but DS#4 who now has a job at the mall and is getting Black Friday ready from now until 3:30AM... then he has to work tomorrow night, unless things get really crazy and they said they may call him in early.

My sister just older than me texted me to tell me that her youngest son's wife just gave birth to a 6lb 4oz boy. (her 2nd grandchild in less than a week.. she has 8 total) My mother will have 40 great grandchildren before the end of February... I'm glad that neither I nor my younger brother have yet added to that number. My younger sister's oldest daughter is pregnant with QUADRUPLETS and even though they are really due in April, they are hoping she can make it to the end of February. My mother will never catch up with my grandmother... when she died, my little girl was her 100th great grandchild.... and she had almost 30 great great grandkids by then.

Well I'm hoping that the Alteril kicks in soon so I can get a good nights rest. I shouldn't have taken the two short naps I took today.

I'm feeling jealous of all those who have Icelandics go broody. I don't see that happening to any of mine... or do they wait till they are over two? And how long do Icelandics lay?... 3? 4 years old?

We had a toilet supply line freeze and bust and it flooded the room next to it. Real hardward floors in an old house too. They swelled and then shrank back and then gaps started opening. I was sure they were ruined but since we were going to redo that room later we left them. With time, surprisingly, they returned to their original condition. Hopefully yours will too.

MIMDDH I used to show dogs many moons ago, I think at that time you weren't allowed to show a female in heat. Maybe you could inquire about that. I know you are nervous and wouldn't want to heap more on your plate. I had alot of social phobias in the olden days but, I learned to just "see" my dog and the judge and it helped enormously. What a beautiful dog!

You may show a female in season in conformation, but not in obedience or agility. As a courtesy to other exhibitors, you should go to the end of the line though.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and dog show tips.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my sisters. Last year her husband was going to start chemo and radiation treatment for throat cancer the week after Thanksgiving. This year he is healthy and cancer free! We are all thankful for that.

I hope Kelly isn't too sore from moving all that wood, and not removing too many splinters. Looking forward to seeing pictures of Debs_flock newly remodeled kitchen. We need to go get a few household items probably at Walmart, but if we are lucky between the grocery store and Tractor Supply we'll find everything we need. Mahonri that family is huge, your mother is love having all those grandchildren! We're tucked amongst the Amish and one of neighbor's has 54 grandchildren, at 53 he finally got one named after him (Amos). Mary sorry about the kitchen mishap, I hope there isn't any permanent damage, and it gets installed correctly soon.

Dang Mary, you never have a dull moment in your life! I hope you don't need to replace any wood... and I hope the plumbing situation gets resolved.

The weather here is just too unbelievably wonderful.

I woke up early so I headed up the mountain at O dark thirty.... Saw a bunch of folks I knew on the mountain.... buncha black Friday hikers. Cleaned two coops (BIG JOB) and the chick brooder and made a big salad and now I'm waiting for DW to tell me it's time to get the Christmas tree and Christmas lights for the house out of storage.... Oh joy...

Meanwhile, I'm watching the Fringe marathon on the Science channel... still not getting it but it's fun trying to figure it out.

Not sore, and no splinters!

I cooked yesterday for my family. It went really well and dinner was delicious. I made the chocolate pudding cake out of the BYC cookbook and there wasn't even a crumb left over.

Mary - I hope the floors are okay. Sorry you had that mess to clean up.

Dar - my Icelandic that went broody a few months ago was 8 months old when she went broody.
