Sticky gel on egg shell

This morning we found an egg that had what looked like dry rubber cement stuck to one end. It was obviously sticky when it was wet, because some of the nesting material was glued to it. Should we be worried?

It was clear and honestly reminded me of mucus more than anything else biological. It was completely clear, so I doubt it was muscle or anything like that. Didn't keep the egg - Didn't think about posting photos until it was too late.

Sometimes poop can be clear looking. Have you dewormed them anytime?

Ok, this post may be the explanation - it was a lot like dried egg white, and one of our hens didn't lay yesterday. Maybe she has an internally broken egg in there?! I guess I'll be doing vent inspections today, since not sure which hen it was.

Sometimes poop can be clear looking. Have you dewormed them anytime?

Hmmm another good point. They may be due for a deworming. They don't usually poop in their nest boxes, but anything is possible!

If you have a poopy egg that might mean they have parasites. Maybe it is time to deworm them.

How much "gunk" was on the egg? If it wasn't very much, and was mostly clear/slightly milky, it sounds more like excess bloom.

I have a few that always have excessive bloom, it can take hours for it to dry.
Stuff from nest(straw, feathers) sticks to the eggs.
