A few of my chickens are sneezing, have been for awhile. I culled one awhile back for this plus bubbly eye. I treated the rest with Tylan in there water, and the sneezing got a bit better but never went away. Now it is more noticeable and there are several sneezing plus i hear it in my big babies brooder (almost 7 weeks). Is there something else i can try? Iam also giving them oxine ah the water.

Thanks.

If your going to keep treating them with antibiotics, be sure to give probiotics along with it. To keep their gut bacteria healthy. You can mist your birds with Oxine, have you read this? if they are still sneezing i would deff. mist them. www.shagbarkbantams.com/oxine.htm

I tried responding to your email but your inbox was full. I dont believe there was an egg withdrawl period after I used the denagard on my birds but just to be on the safe side I didn't eat or sell for eating any eggs for 10 days after they were done with the meds. If they just came off the tylan treatments I would wait about 10 days or so before you treat with denagard, during that time like miss lydia mentioned use probiotics like plain yogurt. Keep us posted

P.S. I also used VetRX on them, it has a scent like vicks so it helps them breathe a little better, not a cure all just an aid.

It might be ILT in which case you need more than antibiotics. There is a vaccine you can get that will help with recovery and prevention. They do not become permanent carriers if you vaccinate them all.
If it is ILT it is rapidly fatal. If you have any die, you need to get a necropsy done within twenty four hours, then you will know for sure.

How long have you had them on the Tylan? If I were you I'd be seeking professional help, right now.
Peter Brown at www.firststatevetsupply.com has the ILT vaccine and could probably advise you what to do. There are other on line vets on here, too, but Peter worked with us when we had ILT, and saved our flock.

It is important to keep them on the Tylan at least ten days to two weeks. Treat the whole flock at this point, and you know you can't eat the eggs for three weeks or so after they are done with the meds.

What is ILT? They were on the tyan for 10 days, then i didnt eating the eggs for 3 weeks after they finished the tylan so it was a month ago. You say Rapidly fatal, 2 of these chickens have been sneezing for probably 6 weeks. I was thinking it might be time to call a vet i know who deals with chickens.

I dont have the "mister" needed. The ones i have found are over 300$$$ !!!

Editing to add...I called my local paint store. They have a sprayer used for removing wallpaper, he said it would give me the same mist and a paint sprayer! I will give this a try!

I will keep you all posted!

Oxine should take care of the problem, just make sure it's Oxine AH (animal health.) I'm curious, were you using tylan soluable or tylan injectable mixed in the water?

as far as probiotics just make sure it's a good one and plain not flavored. I use a garden sprayer to mist my birds with.. also kefir and buttermilk are good probiotics. and thanks for keeping us posted..
