Yes, Ladybug is still with us as well as Snowflake who is also 8 years old. Both got their goodnight pats this evening. Thank you

Stinky I am so sorry that is rough. Rough as hell. You gave her the BEST life, she was happy and loved and well cared for -- look how long she lived! She was so beautiful.

Thank you, thistlewick Because of the people here on BYC I could keep her happy during her final years. She looked forward to her arthritis supplements everyday and we loved giving it to her. When she moved down to second in the pecking order all the other hens were still very good to her which was so nice to see.

Of course I feel guilty about her death - I do every time with every animal in my care - but it appears she had a heart attack and didn't suffer for long which makes me feel a lot better.

Freya is becoming a great little hen. Just a few days ago I was inside my chicken pen talking with someone with my arms out in front of me and out of nowhere Freya jumped up onto my arm. Now she's jumping up on me regularly and I've been giving her treats as a reward. I gave her corn today and when she finished she got in my face because she thought my teeth were corn kernels!
