Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

Thank heavens things seem to finally be moving in a positive direction for you on this matter. Did the lawyer give you any sort of timeframe that you can expect things to happen?

As soon as I pay the fee for the formal demand (will have to be Thurs.) I can expect 2 weeks after they both receive their letters.

He's sending it certified mail so they will have to go to the post office to get the letters.

AND.....

The sheriff is filing charges for embezzlement, as that's what the DA decided would be the best bet...the paperwork should be to the DA tomorrow and the lawyer will help goad them into hurrying it through.

I just read this whole thread. This is insane! I am glad you have this ranger involved. He seems to be putting the fear into them and I think you will have that beautiful horse back soon.

You have handled this well. A few posters said to take the name and number of everyone calling and call back to check it. Also, find out what your local laws are on recording conversations in person and on phone. As far as the Sheriff involved- I hope it's an election year.

It would be such awful timing for a campaign.

You deserve every cent these people made if they entered in rodeos while he was missing. No matter who the rider was. Check any newsletters in the rodeo community to see who winners were in the missing period. I don't know if he's gelded or not- but they may have even used him for stud services. Not that the horse would mind.

You should charge them for everything down to the manure you could have gotten for garden use. Make sure they have to pay for a good vet exam to make sure everything is right and your transportation expenses to bring him back home. And enjoy being with him again - which will be the best part.
