Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

i thought there was a reason you heated the shoes when you were fitting a horse. trimming the hoof walls too much can do so much damage when shoeing! if you don't have any outer wall you are just nailing into the soft part of the inner hooves! the shoes are the cheaper part of a farrier visit and all it would have taken is a trip to the local TSC to get the right ones! it has been many years since i worked at our local equine clinic and went through the farrier convention stuff which was interesting to learn even though i've never owned a horse. this guy must have just been starting out his training if he had any at all, and who ever tried to train him is obviously just as bad as him! have you or your farrier checked Max's teeth too? farriers usually do certain dental work on horses too and i'd be afraid he could have issues if it wasn't done right!

this guy really was

The barefoot movement has a pretty good following here.... That will pretty much do away with nasty farriers...Only the very best will survive as they meet up with this new movement in equine podiatry

Max will be going to his first show VERY soon. He won't do well, but it's his first show...I can't fault him at all for any mistakes that may happen. We're working hard to make the deadline.

If anyone knows anything about show attire, please PM me. I'm hesitant to post my bodily info on here and need help finding something that would work to at least allow him to be considered for a placing, or at least, not get DQed at first glimpse.

Show attire: Must be clean and pressed and with a belt. I would find out who the judge is and what era they are from. always a belt. If the judge is from a past era, retro is a fantastic way to go. I alway go with biegh or something nuetral yet neat and pressed. I do not want to detract from the horse as that is what is being judged. To much makeup and bling on you detracts from the horse. Horse should be impeccably groomed and very clean... Bridle path and fetlock trim... White brightener on his stockings. One can buff some vaseline on his coat just before the show and buff out with a towel to give an unbelievable shine. Remember that you are not what the judge is looking at but always smile like he is the prettiest horse in the world.

Pressed and clean... A seam down the front of your pants and always dressed to the neck and with earrings... studs. If you are doing showmanship then you will rethink the "costume" but if you are showing the horse what you wear should be non invasive. Feed him Black oil sunflower seeds or corn oil for a nice coat. Walk him back wards repeatedly (and preferrable on an incline uphill) to define the lines in his gaskins. Clip his nose hairs and wash out the inside of his nostrils and ears. Keep a flymask all the way down his nose so he doesn't get a burn... or better yet... Keep him in during the day and let him out only at night so his coat doesn't bleach or he get sunburned... Good luck.

Oh and most of all.... Smile and give the judge respect by waiting to be excused. Good luck.. Can't wait to see the placing.

I love trail class, if not for trying to place, just for the fun of doing it with your horse. You really should try it. If you have enough time, you can practice at home. To me, it's a good exercise for horse/rider because it's not repetitive and keeps the horse interested. Water, tarps, bridges, gates, backing through a course, etc. Fun, fun, fun!
