Is he registered with the APHA, or AQHA, rodeo cowboys assoc? Maybe they could be contacted?
ETA: you could probably use this thread as evidence (or an accounting) too.

The map might show vehicles. Note how many, type (car, truck, van) and color so you know if they are gone easier.

FYI most of the free images are several years old. When I google my address, I get to see how the place looked back when it was clear-cut. However, I've been here 4 years now so the bare dirt is now gone, replaced by house, barn, chicken coops, and fenced pastures. So when you google, take what you see with a grain of salt.

i know here in NC the old law of hanging horse thieves is still on the books and hasnt been amended. i sure hope you get your horse back. i pity the fool that tries to take one of ours when i get more.

The big issue here is that he is not necessarily a horse thief. He is a deadbeat leaser that won't return the goods that he owes for. There is a slight difference. To me he is a horse thief but technically in the eyes of the law, he is not a straight up thief. That is where ROPO is having the issue with the lawyers. He breached a contract and that is the hard part, if he would have flat out stolen the horse, she would have a leg to stand on. Since he breached the contract, you are at the mercy of civil law.

I had hoped that the lack of posting on this thread recently meant that the repo was underway! I've gone over and over this, and maybe repo and then suing him for the amount it cost her to get him back is the way to go. Where does the case stand with the civil court? Does she have a judgment saying the horse must be returned to her? I thought the sheriff went along in those cases to see that the property was returned. This is so frustrating to read that I can't imagine what she is going through having to live it each day. Lost a lot of time with the out of state lawyer. She needs to get a HARD-NOSED local one.

Holding good thoughts for the safe return of Max (and SOON).

His registration papers are by the PHBA (Palomino Horse Breeders). I notified them long ago about what was going on, but thank you for the suggestion!
