Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

Ok one more time and I won't say anything else tonight. I don't think it's doing more harm than good. I think it's bringing attention to the matter. BUT that's just M.O. I wish we could get someone higher up to help.

I agree it's bringing attention, but harassing/insulting the newspaper staff is only going to undermine the credibility of those who support RoPo.

I do appreciate all of you who have written, but I would suggest calming it down just a bit.

The people there already hate me, giving the judge a reason to recuse again isn't what I'm going for.

They contacted me via email. I replied back but I was at work ALL day today. I literally just got off 20 minutes ago.

I'm worried about telling them what happened...my reasons:

1.They're going to twist it, no matter how well I think or type it out.
2. They're going to print it and it WILL cause the judge to recuse because it's probably the only paper that the people there are going to read.

Several people hit reply all. I dont think anyone sees that as an issue. It is just a small error. Everyone email address was out at that point anyway.

I do think that when we all had to give an email address to comment there was an assumption that a news organization would respect the privacy of that information. Do I mind that many of yall got my email address? No. But I do mind that it was thrown out there so disrespectfully. My Email address is just like my home address an my phone number. Its my choice who I give that information to. I chose to be public with that information. But no one else has the right to also be public with my information.

Do I think we are making things worse? No. This has got to the point that the only thing that will work is to throw a wrench in to the machine an watch the parts fly. That way everything gets looked at out in the open. No bandaging what can bee seen an letting it go.

I also hit reply all, sorry folks.

I'm the one apologizing for my first e-mail response, which was rather rude. That means I'm #1 on page 237. She replied to the one where I said "who are you". She said "I'm the editor of this paper", however, the only identifier for the paper was in her e-mail address. I find it unprofessional to send out this kind of e-mail without identifying yourself.

I'm done with the paper. I think little can be gained through posting there. I do think there is a pervasive illness in the way business is done in that county. I also think they have a phone number problem. R couldn't find RoPo's phone number, and neither could the editor of the paper. I think that RoPo's contact info must be somewhere in the court documents that have been generated. If the AG can find her, the editor of the paper should be able to also.

You are not alone under the chair. I really hope Max is returned to his owner soon. The owner has been given an invitation to express her side of the story. If I was a member of this local papers community, I would also wonder who all these people are that are writing slamming my town. I realize that we are all upset for the owner but there is still a way to get one's point across without portraying oneself as crazy horse or chicken people. A man has died and even if there is a disagreement with a relative, I found the lack of respect surprising from this group of normally caring people. Best wishes RoPo, I hope Max is home and he spends the rest of his days happily in your care, you desire to see this nightmare end.

verthandi... I totally apologize, and I feel ashamed for making it out like that... I did not mean to show disrespect for the death of the dad. What I am wondering if that was part of the reason for the delays.... I know in OUR small town that WOULD be something to stall the proceedings, and depending on how "popular" he was it could shut the whole town down for the day. If half of the town is related, then this would affect a lot of the folks in the whole town. That is all I am saying. It is just SO interesting how many people are related in this town! I want to help ROPO and not hurt this case (sorry ROPO and everyone else)....

I was thinking earlier today, that we all may want to tone it down a bit not only on the newspaper site but also here so this thread does not get shut down. ROPO needs a forum to express what is going on and what she can do to get Max back. All she can do is go forward from here and according to the judges start all over again. She has the facts and the proof so it is a no brainer.

Again I am sorry I got sucked into the pointing fingers and having no compassion!

Ropo, perhaps your best bet would be to thank the newspaper for the offer to air your side of the controversy, but that you feel it's best to let the court handle it, and that you don't want to compromise your court case by talking too much at this time. You just want to wait for the case to come up, and then you know it will be fairly resolved.

I can understand why the newspaper and the town are getting defensive, but the outrage just boiled over here after the last postponement because you've been waiting so long and so patiently. The newspaper handled it wrong, and some of the folks on here may have handled it wrong. If they would just RESOLVE this thing, the controversy would go away. You certainly don't want to alienate the new judge and cause her to back out of the case too.

Anyway, just my thoughts. Do what you think is best.

I unfortunately missed a lot of what has transpired in the first quarter of the year when I was offline. I thought for sure Max would have been home with Ropo by now.

Seems you guys have been busy shaking up everyone. As much as I sometimes disagree with the legal system, it does however have the power to make or break a case. So many ways for them to stall this out, drag it on, or call in favors not in the best interest of those who are the true victim(s). I would let it proceed along without too much further disruption at this point because the courts could get fairly nasty and use this to ROPO's disadvantage. Perhaps retaining an effective attorney wouldn't be out of the realm at this point either. I would look outside the local justice system for such a person though, one who is not tied into the local legal structure.

The idea of quick and due justice just doesn't exist in our legal system anymore. And they wonder WHY our courts are bogged down???

Ropo, I am still praying for you to get Max back. Through all this, I am hoping that "right" and "law abiding" will still prevail, even if at a snail's pace.

What Casey said. The paper has mentioned a few times that they had offered you a turn to speak. Be curteous. Thank them for the opportunity and tell them how sad you are that you don't have Max back yet and frustrations are high but that you really have nothing else to say at this point as you don't want to jeopardize your case.

Good Luck and I don't think anything has hurt your case from this paper war. Hopefully, it will bring things to a head.
