have you had your old vet go out and confirm that that is your horse he used to service? that would be a professional opinion. "yes its marking are just like the horse ropo used to have"

just thinking... cos i remember when i was in horse 4-h we had to report our horse's markings and stuff. either it was for education purposes or for if the horses got mixed up in a show or stall assignments then there would be a clear identification.....

course in 4h everyone knew whos horse was who's.....

Do you have old coggins papers,

in Florida they show markings, scars and such.

The only Coggins papers I have are from the previous owner when I purchased him. His registration papers say his markings...so I've got that and the previous Coggins papers.

Now this uncle is saying the horse that the nephew leased from you, and sold to him, is NOT your horse Max? That it all of sudden became a different horse? That the horse he wanted to sell back to you (if I remember correctly) for $5000 isn't your horse after all? How many different ways can this yahoo change his story? Wasn't it already disclosed in a previous court hearing that the uncle acknowledged that the horse WAS the horse in question-Max, but that he thought the nephew owned and not just leased the horse that he supposedly purchased? Can you remember the date this was disclosed and get the court transcripts showing the uncle acknowledging it was your horse in his possession RoPo? That would blow his claim of not your horse out of the water. What a jerk he is.

On a side note, in all my 40+ years in horses, I have never seen photos of a brindle horse as was shown on your genetics page link on Birdcatcher Spots. That is bizarre to say the least!

I read a story in a horse magazine one of my clients gave me that said brindle horses are the result of an absorbed twin kind of thing. The way I understood it was that the horse in question in the article started out as twins in the uterus at some point the twins merged early on resulting in brindle coloring. The freaky/cool thing was that genetically the bands of color had different dna.. I think they termed this phenomon the Chimera Effect. The article said it happens to people too and mentioned a woman in California who was accused of welfare fraud when it was discovered her children had dna that showed she was their aunt not their mom. Turns out she had an absorbed twin as well and her ovaries belonged to the twin. Dont know if this is the case for the photos of the horses you showed or not but thought it was interesting none the less.

I dont know a thing about horses and probably shouldnt have posted about them. Just thought that article was interesting and wanted to share. I didnt mean to imply that all brindles have the same thing. Sorry
