How correct and slightly incorrect you would be!
WELL, here's the rundown.
It started 10 minutes late, my blood sugar took a huge plunge in the meantime (my breakfast bar wasn't enough apparently...) so I had to get a snack. On the way inside...
I sit at the prosecuting table, feeling the uncle's eyes boring a hole through my head. I'm asked to go to the bench, the judge is REALLY nice. The uncle's attorney never showed.....
Yet, I have the DA on my side, questioning me.
So I tell everything that he asks me, then the uncle is allowed to question me. Accuse me is more what he did...including this line "I want to know why you're taking a horse away from a 7 year old." I was ready to answer back, but the DA said "That is irrelevant." Good thing too....grrr..
The judge tells him to stay on topic. HE claims the horse is not the same horse, even after I have provided photos and information regarding birdcatcher spots, then claims he didn't know about the lease agreement. The deputy that's been involved this whole time apparently did NOT want to be there. When the uncle told him to come up, he was dodging questions left and right...apparently didn't want to be involved. Oh, and remember how I said he probably never got a good look at him? Yeah. I was right. He saw him from the ROAD!!! That's it!!! Anyway, the uncle went on a HUGE rant and looked like a fool. I wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one watching him go hysterical and the DA was trying to hold back his laughter.
The judge finally tried to calm him down. During all this "questioning" of the deputy, the uncle admitted that the horse was the same, admitted that he knew about the lease agreement in July...the judge was almost pulling her hair out. She asked "Which way are you going with this? Are you going the route that the horse isn't the same one or are you going with the idea that you claim you didn't know about the lease agreement?" He said that he claimed the horse wasn't the same one. He said the only way to know was to do a DNA test, which he stated I should be the one to pay for. She just looked at him...I could almost hear her say "Wow."
At the end, he said "I don't know about you all but I don't trust this girl any more than I can throw her." At which point the DA and the judge jumped and told him to try and keep it civil and if I can seem to be civil towards him and act like an adult, why can't he?
I will tell you some more details that I'd rather not post on here through PM or chat...but, the judge said she would like to see Max before making a ruling and wanted to head out today to look at him, but she said she was going under advisement at the moment so a verdict hasn't been made.
Let's just say that things are looking REALLY good. The DA said we should know something by the LATEST of next Friday.
