Stolen Pictures on ebay

I just had a thought I wonder if everyone on BYC (at least reading this thread) did that if it would make any difference?

I tried, but am on the computer at work and don't know my password for ebay, I'll have to do it when I get home.

Harassing them is about all you can do. There is a legal ground due to it being a commercial mis-use that can be quite profitable with the right lawyer and such. I know photographers that love to find their images being used and actually make more going after the violators then they do selling the image itself. I have made several thousand dollars from making contact with this type of company/person and offering to sell them the image rights or coming to a monetary agreement for the use of the images(s). Its bad enough when its a snap shot, but when you do this for a living it can take up alot of time and money going after the people responsible. I was in quite a legal battle with a company in Isreal who had stolen several hundred of my images, removed the watermark and openly claimed the images were theirs. Thankfully my images are encoded with my name and contact info and they were forced to remove them.

I spend a few hours each month searching through magazines and calling editors who use my images as well. Most know they are stolen and reluctantly pony up my fee. Its better to ask for forgiveness then permission it appears.....

You can download software and create a watermark (sometimes the software is free) or create an action in photoshop. Most photo editing software offers a type function/action that should allow you to put your name on it.

She answered me back and asked

Do you own that photo?

I answered her back this:

My friend owns that photo. She has used it for years. You know you lifted it. Just take it down and use your own is all. Or ask permission before you use it. It is her main photo she uses for selling that variety, so a LOT of people know that photo, and know it isn't yours. Last week I needed a photo to sell some sweetgrass poults, so I went to images.google.com, and looked at images. I went to the site of a beautiful sweetgrass tom, picked up my phone, and asked the person if I could use his photo. I offered to send him $10 from paypal, but he said no, that is okay. I was only selling a dozen poults local. and not on ebay, and was not competing with him or breeding them, so he said yes, I could use his photo. He declined the $10 from paypal even. If you have hens laying, you should just take a photo of your own birds. If their backs are worn, just take head shots. My friend says this is not the first time you have taken her photos and used them, so you know the drill by now. It is just NOT okay to steal photos to sell your stuff. If you don't have a camera, ask a friend to help you. Where there is a will, there's a way. Use your own photos of your own birds. Anything else is fraud, really. Just do the right thing. People are watching, and you give yourself a bad rep by what you are doing.

Typically it means that their birds (product) is not of a quality that others want.

Like a puppy mill stealing a friend of mines show quality puppy photo to sell their puppies.
