Awwwww. That is really sweet. My dh is no longer protesting. He had to admit it is great for the kids and brought us all a lot of happiness. He still hasn't figured me out though after ALL these years. I don't do things in a small way.

He is the one who got me started, so he can't protest. I just through it back on him, he is bringing me more eggs tomorrow. I love him

Leah-yes I know I'm crazy :

So dh and I were going down the road and I'm yelling, stop! There's a dorm size fridge in the trash! Do you know what I could do with that?...

I am so glad to meet someone else who collects "items of refuse" to use in their chicken operation. I just had my dh stop to get old plastic barrels so I could use them to collect rain water to water the chickens with. He just does what I tell him to. He really does not help this addiction at all. We have actually saved tons of money by doing stuff like this.

My DBF is who got me started in chickens when HE wanted to hatch a few for layers. Now he says we need to stop incubating. I totally agreed! So what does he do? Starts planning a NEW COOP!!.. What a cop out

I have two bators going now and saving eggs for the next batch next week Because HE wants another breed.

You all are such terrible enablers. DH said no more shipped eggs for now, and my hens have stopped laying, so when these quail come out I'll have to wait for my girls to start up again before I can hatch more...unless I find someone else i can buy eggs from....

Ha! Heather, go to a farmstand and buy a dozen. You'll get a forrest gump mixture.

I got my dh to agree to a road trip to pick up some eggs. We are going to stop at an historic village to teach the kids about colonial america and picking up some eggs nearby beforehand. I can't believe he fell for it.

Of course he knows what is at work. I do appreciate him going along with it.

At this point I'm just wanting to hatch, though DH would probably prefer if I took a break for a few weeks. lol I've been looking at the ksl classifieds, which is an online classified in Utah hosted by a news station, and in the poultry section I can sometimes find listings for people selling eating eggs, but most of them live a long way away, so it's a matter of finding someone in the direction that I'll be traveling. I actually stopped at a house the other day that had a sign that they sold eggs, but no one was home.

I even asked a friend who raises chickens about buying some eggs from them, but she said they've been treating for lice so it'll be a while. *sigh* It's probably just as well that I take a little break to finish getting the run set up for my new coop anyway, and building different sections. I'll have to start looking around again in another few weeks. My sister's girls will love it if I have baby chicks for Christmas.

I'd love to get some polish eggs, but right now I'm not being too picky, as I'm playing with my incubator, trying to get used to it before I start hatching for serious selling in the spring.
