Stop the spinning....!

My son gets it sometimes. The first time was the worst. Fluid in the labyrinth (inner ear). Try Dramamine. This is what the doctor perscribed and it helped SO much. It can be a terrifying experience. When Caleb had it, objects looked closer or far away to him... our heads lookes small, etc... and the spinning, nausiating feeling. I am sorry you are going through it and I hope this helps. Also, laying down is a no no... try sleeping in a recliner if you can.

I had horrible vertigo for about four months. I was also having migraines. Turns out my Birth Control Pills I'd been on four years were finally starting to mess with my system. Got off them, and within a week, no problem. Haven't had it since.

Have you checked for an ear wax plug? Those can also cause vertigo. I pour a teeny amount of Hydrogen Peroxide in my ear, let it fizzle for a minute or two, then then let it all drain out. It help me with my balance, which sucks anyway.

Good luck!

I feel your dizzy sister. The only that helps me when sinuses get to that point is prostration. It does nothing for your career and even less for your social life, but when you can't stand, you're better off not trying.

Oh wow, you poor dear! I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. I just can't begin to imagine how miserable you must be. Praying you find relief very soon.

I understand your frustration. I was on prescribtion anti-nausea medicine for about 8 months several years ago. When it first started, I couldn't walk and was constantly throwing up. It finally calmed down enough that I could function and after many months, it went away completely. I wish I had a suggestion that would help you, I never found anything that did other than the anti-nausea meds.

There are some physical therapy center that do therapy specifically for vertigo. My understanding is that the therapy is absolute he** but the results are worth it.

I don't know where you are located, but I would Google "physical therapy vertigo...and your location" and you should come up with something.

On the contrary, I had something similar to Meniere's called endolymphatic hydrops. Suffered with it for 2 years on and off, and then it disappeared, never to return. This was 10 years ago. I was told SO many times I was going to lose my hearing permanently, it was ridiculous.

I went the natural route, after MANY failed medications. Believe it or not, stress relief and meditation were the best things ever, for me. Once I got my stress under control, my body seemed to respond and found its health again. I know it's really stressful just having the vertigo. If you can find a yoga studio that offers meditation, I STRONGLY recommend it. Yoga is incredibly helpful, too.

Best of luck, I know exactly what you're going through. Do you have fullness or ringing in an ear? TMJ is also a possibility.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and encouragement. I've tried the dramamine and meditation, and unfortunately, so far being very still is the only thing that "helps". I guess I'll just have to have a Harp Lager and blame it on Guiness! For what it's worth, ginger tea helps the nausea and as long as I don't look up, I can stagger my way through the day without hurting anything/anyone (so far). But if I look up, look out... I'm going down. Counter tops have been a lifesaver-- that tile floor is really hard

Tomorrow is ENT day, so we'll see if he's got any miracles up his sleeve. My chiropractor is doing NAET food allergy elimination to see if that helps at all. Y'all stay warm and cozy. It's cold here! (and windy- talk about challenging your balance!)
