Foie Gras, Escargot, and other dishes were not created as high end food for rich snobby people. This food is considered peasant food and was introduced in many cultures because meat was scarce and other forms of protein were not available to the masses. The good meat went to royalty and the rich and everyone else got the innards and what was left over. The poor learned to make due with what was left. You ate that or you starved to death.
Not all foie is made in the way depicted in the video example just like all turkeys are not abused like you see in the videos. Rather than bashing an entire industry/culture/belief I agree with the posters that suggested that you ask if the meat was raised humanely or vote with your wallet and go find humanely raised foie yourself - if that's what you like to eat. You can translate that into any other meat or product you'd like based on your personal beliefs.
