Store bought eggs hatch along anyone? I'm buying regular organic.

Love to see those pictures! The redish one with dark red stripes looks similar to the chick in my pic. She is a red sex link. Which is pretty cool because it looks like you have quite a few pullets!
I noticed some brown ones with stripes in the brooder. Are those store bought? I wonder what they are...

I can't wait for chickies! Since this is my first hatch I am so nervous hatch day will come and nothing will hatch.

I really hope I am doing everything right.
I was thinking of candeling today. Is it terribly hard to candle brown eggs?

These would be a sex link crossed with a production red. I talked to the farmer today and saw his chickens. He has some that look to be production reds, some that are red sex links and then he has some that are barred rocks. He has no br Roos. All his Roos are production reds. The red and whites wouldn't be sexable but the blacks should be. That's good news for me...there look to be 6 bsl pullets and only 1 cockerel. I am guessing the dark brown chick is a barred rock rsl cross. It doesn't matter much to me,I just am addicted to hatching and will only be keeping a few for myself. 50 of these are sold already so I will keep the remainders.

And on another good note I am on day 26 with some guineas and 4 have hatched already and 5 more are pipped. There are only 10 eggs in there so it looks to be a great hatch, especially for shipped eggs.

You can make a candler. I don't candle before day 10. I used a shop lamp with a mini 65 watt flood lamp bulb.
I lined the inside of the cardboard with foil. This is a brown eggs being candled. I check for cracks in the eggs as I did hatch some eggs that had hairline cracks that I didn't see but with the light they show up clearly.

Hows the rest of you hatch alongers doing? Who's left anyway?
I haven't canceled yet but plan to tomorrow. I will take pics :D

I am happy with 62. I set 96 and a lot of them died really early due to poor handling and refridgeration. 77 made it to lockdown so 62 out of that is good enough for me
Tried some "fertile" Whole Foods eggs before and as I've since been told, they are notoriously....ummmm, notsofertile? TJs eggs happen to be quite fertile from what I've read..... good for you all with your storebought eggs! Right on

Fertility on these eggs was excellent. If they were handled correctly a personi would have some great hatch rates with them. This next hatch I have going the eggs werent put in the cooler before I got to them. I am hoping for another good hatch

I only have 4 eggs left, most were not fertile, and the ones left are only there because they are to dark to see into,,,but on a good note I have a pip (not a store bought egg) have to go on a 12 hour shift though, hoping to see a baby in the morning.

I just took half my TJ eggs out. I have 24 left. Some of the ones I took out started but quit. I think some were bacteria eggs and one had a black spot in it.
