Wonder what the first human thought when considering eating eel and oysters? Must have been very hungry.

I can answer that for the oysters—they were very hungry. Then they were very happy. Because they were eating them right out of the ocean which I can tell you is a far cry even from fresh shipped

I've had oysters many times. Always VERY hungry. They are pretty much bottom of options for me. Eel at least, makes sense. Its just a different sort of "fish", and people had been smoking and eating fish for a long time.

Not so much a feast as a lot of options, so we don't need to cook as much next week. The sushi will go away tonight, the smoked fish dip will go on bagels (I should have bought more bagels, actually) and crackers (I did buy more of those) for the rest of the week, the "party bread" is good for snacks and lunches. Push comes to shove, fish dip on crackers with a nice salad makes a pretty good dinner, with the right dressing of course. Oh, and my wife is making two quiche (we have way too many eggs) and pickling another batch (we have...) mid week.

Its just a focaccia recipe you turn chunks of leftover lunch meats and cheeses into. I don't bake. I CAN'T bake. But even I can do this.

Tuna is coming off the smoker for the fish dip - first piece just came off, other piece is a bit thicker, another 15 minutes. Shortly after the second round of party bread comes out of the oven.

Then I can start rolling sushi and sear off the tuna for tataki. All the prep is finally done. I'm going to have a glass of sake to celebrate and go silent, so you don't listen to me *B!+__!ng* about my back for the rest of the evening. Counters are too low in the RV. Maybe roll sushi at the office desk, its too high - but has a low ceiling...

No perfect solutions.
