goodness. once again, so sorry for the big time chicken loss. are you going to get more chickens to replace them? (don't get me wrong, they must be un-replacable.)

please do.
p.s, Pine's brother is mean now! he seems interested in the ladies, but attacks all the other roos. my dad said that the other day he caught Night (Pine's brother) sitting upon a crouching Hats, and eating all Hats' head feathers out, plus hurting his back with spurs Hats just crouched yelping. poor Hatsie Patsie. i cried when i heard what happened. i also promised myself that i would give Night a good LONG HARD chase when i got home from the homeschool conference, and i would hold Hats while chasing him. fortunately, my dad was a step ahead of me. he said he had ran over, shouting at Night, then scooped up Hats from under Night, then chased him for ten minutes. (he was more fit then i thought.) dad said that he "chased the daylights out of him". he hasn't done that to Hats since. i am tempted to get a net, scoop him up, and walk/run around with the net roughly. i won't do it though. recently, he has started dropping his wing, and shuffling sideways towards me. i usually just watch him, or chase him. (which is funny to watch, because he shuffles sideways away from me, like he is doing the cha-cha as quick as he can. lol.

oh trust i will you cant keep roos together with hens they will fight like cats and dogs
hmm. weird. i just sold Night to the same guy i sold Pine to. i only have one roo in the big flock now, but i have 2 roos who share 3 ladies. they seem to get along fine and never fight. the 2 roos are Hats,

and Palmer,

and these are the ladies they share.

they are called Mapleheart, Passion, and Cupcake. they all seem to like sharing a tiny flock with eachother.

recently the scariest thing happened. i was feeding the chickens scratch and noticed that my big flock was there, but my tiny flock, (made of Hats, Palmer, mapleheart, passion, and cupcake.) was gone. i looked everywhere when i heard clucks of pain. i found Hats with his head stuck in a bush and the twigs rapped around his neck. i took him out, made sure he could breath ok, and set him in my coop with the big flock so he could be safe. i was thinking, what if predators got the others? i kept looking, and saw the 3 ladies (mapleheart, passion, and cupcake) under a small tree with my neighbor's cat leaning over them. i hurried over, yelled at the stupid cat, (which ran away instantly) and ran to the girls. i noticed that suprisingly, none of them were hurt. they seem to not even have seen the cat. i put them in the coop with the others, and kept searching for Palmer. i couldn't find him anywhere. i walked into the house thinking that if Palmer wasn't in the coop by nighttime, he was probably gone forever. in the afternoon i came out to search again, and saw Palmer trying to get into the shut-door coop. i held him and snuggled him and let him in, and he instantly ran for the water. later, when i came to close them up in the wooden coop, (in my coop, i have a large area for them to walk around in made of wire/chicken wire, then there is a small wooden coop for them to sleep in. i let them free range at daytime. also, they can go under the coop. there is room under there for that. and it is a good hiding place for them in case of a predator.) the 3 ladies and Palmer of the small flock are under it. (as usual. i would normally wait for them to come out or lure them out with food, but they will stay under there for hours.) i reach down to pull them out, and get Palmer first. i pull him gently out, and see that his earlobe is bloody. i was wondering if he had fought with the cat. i sprayed his earlobe with blue-kote and get the ladies out and put them all on the roost.
also, i have a question. palmer is a polish chicken, but his crest isn't like a polands crest. it's tiny.
here are some photos of palmer.

shouldn't his crest be flowing down by now? like hats's.
here are photos of Hats's crest.

(it has blue kote on it. that is why you can see a little purple.)
