Blake returned to the subway station after his smoke and continued his eye, glancing every so often in Eli direction to make sure nobody was giving him a hard time. Just as he was approaching a short, fat man he heard an angry shout from behind him. He spun around, his gave instinctivly searching out Eli in the crowd of onlookers. He felt a sharp pang of relief when he seen him, his friend looked equally as puzzled as he did.

Pushing his way through the people towards Eli he seen what had caused the shout. A young girl who looked only to be about 13 or 14 had been caught pick-pocketing a large color man in a business suit. He was gripping her wrist tightly and shouting for a security guard. The girls eyes were narrowed in anger as she aimed a sharp kick at the man's leg, which he ignored. Suddenly, Eli left his side and began walking hurriedly towards them. Blake reached out to stop him but he was already gone.

Eli pushed through the rest of the crowd, muttering "Exuse me..." under his breath multiple times. The man was even taller then he was, but not by much. "What do you want?" He said, looking down at Eli as if he were an insect.

"I'm terribly sorry mister." Eli apologized "My sister here, she don't mean no harm. I'm afraid this was all a big misunderstanding" He flashed a smile.

"She tried to take my wallet!"

"No sir," She girl said earnestly, "Someone bumped into me and I bumped into you, I'm very sorry."

"Please," Eli held his hand out, a clear hint that he wanted the man to release her "We're very sorry to have caused such a commotion."

The man hesitated, but eventually let go of the girl and stuck his finger out at Eli "Scram, now. The both of you!" He growled, spinning around and stalking away.

Eli turned to the girl and offered his hand again which she promptly ignored, getting back on her feet without his help. "Follow me" He hissed in her ear, ignoring her protest when he grabbed her arm and led her away. Once they were outside away from the crowd he released her arm again "What was that for?" She growled, rubbing her sore wrists.

"What was what? Me saving your ***** or dragging you out?" Eli inquired.

The girl chose to ignore him, and he asked his next question "Who are you?"

"Danni Aldertree," She sniffed. Now that they were away from the crowd, Eli could take a good look at her. She was slim and rather short, just under 5ft tall with bright blue and purple hair and her eyes were a dark green, almost hazel color.

Eli studied her curiously "How old are you Danni?"

"16" She replied promptly.

He cocked a brow, knowing she was lieing.

Danni rolled her eyes "Okay fine, 13"

"What are yo-" He was inturrupted as Blake came around the corner and nearly bumped right into Danni "What on earth was that about?" He demanded at Eli "You could have gotten arrested!"

"Well I couldn't just leave here there!" Eli defended himself "Honestly Blake, you can be so cold sometimes."

Blake directed his attention to Danni "Who are you anyways?"

"Ask your friend!" She shot back, her eyes flashing angrily at him.

Eli sighed impatiently "Her name is Danni Aldertree, and she's 13." He explained.

Blake wiped the back of his hand across her forehead, suddenly looking tired "Well, I suppose we can't leave you here now."

"I can look after myself!" She retorted.

"Yeah, I noticed." Blake snorted sarcasticly "You almost got both yourself and Eli arrested!"

Danni glared at him, but didn't reply.

"Good." Eli clapped his hands together "Now that thats settled, lets het outta here, I'm starving and I think that guy called the cops."

Once in a sheltered alley way, Blake and Eli pooled their earning together, totalling just over $14. Blake frowned "We'll have to share." He said, with a rueful glance at Danni.

Danni rolled her eyes "I'm not entirely useless" She snorted, handing over a few dollars to bring the total up to $18.

Eli took the money from both Blake and Eli "I'll go get dinner." He said "I'll meet you back at that building we slept in last night."

"Okay," Blake agreed, motioning for Danni to follow him back further into the dark alley while Eli headed out onto the street again.

Ellie shrugged. "Hurry up. We can't get caught." She grabbed his arm and half-dragged him up some old fire escape stairs. They building that the stairs were attached looked to be an empty apartment. The stairs stopped at the top floor. Ellie climbed the brick wall to the roof. "Can you climb up?"

Blake and Danni returned to the abandoned warehouse to wait for Eli. Niether of them spoke, they both sat in stoney silence. When Eli got back he looked at the two of them, sitting on opposite sides of the room and each looking rather uncomfortable. "Did I miss something...?" He asked wearily, setting the food down on the dusty table.

"Not at all." Blake said quickly, happy for a chance to break the silence "You got the food?"

"Yup." Eli replied, looking pleased "And a bit extra." He opened one of the bags and pulled out a large box.

"Whats that?" Danni asked, coming to stand on the other side of the table.

"Cheese pizza" Eli said proudly "The restraunt owner next door gave it to me, they were closing."

"Nice!" Blake said enthusiasticly, taking a piece and gulping it down."I could eat an elephant right now!"

Eli chuckled and helped himself to a piece, passing one to Danni aswell.
