STRANGE ANIMALS AS PETS -- ANYONE HAVE ANY?

I have a bearded dragon that is light orange in color.

I have another 'different' pet. I have a Prairie Dog. Her name is Oakley and I got her in 2002 at a pet shop. Since then, they have been banned from being sold as pets. They are interesting critters, but they are extremely active and demand a lot of time. Oakley has 2 - three story cages, one in the dining room and one on the front porch. She has toys in both and I make sisal rope things for her to chew up and shred. She has a big mound of it in her cage and she burrows into it and sleeps there. She also likes to tear up cardboard boxes into tiny little pieces. Dogs chew EVERYTHING, so she is allowed to come out to play in the tile floor dining room, only under constant supervision. She also has an outside play yard that DH built for her with a sand pit, sometimes she will dig in it but mostly she digs in the corners trying to escape. Prairie Dogs greet with an open mouth, and Oakley 'blesses' us with raised hands and a high pitched noise when we sneeze or cough. It is really kind of cute. Here are a couple of pics of her.

This is her greeting me. The yellow stuff used to be a sisal rope that she has shredded and piles it up and burrows in it.

Here is my strange animal, He is a big sweety, I have had him 22 yrs the 25th of May. It took me about 10 yrs to get him house broke and trained but he does all right now. I love him to pieces.

we had a pet squirrel...my brothers shot it off a telephone wire, and when they realized they had just put out one of its eyes instead of killing it they nursed it back to health and kept it....named it whirly bird....LOL!!!

and here's a uromastyx. I guess it qualifies as a weird pet too. They are super laid back and really prehistoric looking.

With a lot of patience and love. Trust me he put up a fight but eventually he gave in and is really docile now.

I was lucky enough to have a grandfather that owned a petshop...so...beyond all the rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, cockatiels, parrots, fresh and saltwater fish, flying squirrels and ferrets, we had anoles, boas, pythons, fence swifts, box turtles, alligator snapping turtles, geckos, iguanas, savannah monitors, corn snakes, king snakes, tarantulas, etc.

I have raised dozens of possums, squirrels, and rabbits. I think the possums were the most fun to raise. We had a chance to raise a baby bear from the zoo, once, but my dad said no. I was so upset!! He said the same thing about the marmosets, too!

LOL!

Right now, we have a ferret, box turtle, red eared slider, freshwater fish, a bulldog, a boston terrier, persian cat, siamese cat, 2 chicks, and 3 horses. I hope I didn't forget anyone! LOL!

I love reading about everyone's pets! The bobcat sounds like a lot of fun!
