This is a Speckled Sussex rooster I rescued last weekend. He came with 3 ladies, all of which were infested with lice, mites, fleas, you name it, they had it. Along with 3 cases of bumblefoot....(ramble, ramble). Anyways my question or concern is his comb. I've never seen a comb like this and I know its not typical of his breed. It doesn't look like there was any trauma or scarring to......just weird. Anyone else ever seen or have a rooster or hen with this ? Thanks in advance. 0323181104.jpg

I'm wondering could he have lost the points to frostbite long enough ago that there's not much sign?

Maybe that's a type of comb? Kind of cool looking.

Looks like he lost the points of his comb. Probably to frostbite.

I agree. If these birds were not cared for, frostbite is likely. Poor guy. Pretty stately. Good on you for taking them in.
