Strange deaths

Unfortunately I've seen strange symptoms in my chooks lately, they are all about 1-2years old and they are all Silkies or Pekin hens. Just the other day I found one of our chooks shivering and not moving under a bush I thought it might just be cold and put it among the other chooks to keep it warm, it didn't eat or drink that night but it came good in the morning. The next day I found another chook shivering and not moving in my dogs kennel, I moved with the other chooks but something didn't seem right, I went onto a number of websites and they all said to bring it in and keep it warm, so that's what I did, I tried to feed it and give it water but it refused. The poor chook only last two hours before it died and went stone cold. If anyone knows why this keeps happening or how to prevent it, please tell me immediately. Thank you

Where are you located ?..Do they have a Coop?.
Possible Coccidiosis ?

Call your county agricultural extension office and ask how to send a bird for necropsy. Until you know what is causing the deaths, you have no idea what to treat for, or even if there is any kind of treatment available.

More info, please: What is your general location? Most helpful if you put it in your profile, then it is always there. How many birds? Size of coop and run, number of birds, exactly what you are feeding them, mill date of feed, any other feed additives, even source of water may help to figure out your issue.

i live in Australia and they have a very large coop which was an old shed, there is always plenty of hay and warmth, but lately the weather has decided to hit sudden cold in the middle of summer. Would that make them ill?

If they’re used to warm weather and it suddenly gets cold they might not have enough time to adjust to the current temperatures. That could definitely make them sick.

Thank you for your help, I live in Australia (I will be sure to put it in my profile) he have 11 chooks at the moment, large coop with lots of hay for warmth, we feed them grain e.g. Oats, since we live on a farm, they have a large low container of water that I make sure is full every night. Does that help?

Yes..Chickens stress easy so they drop in temps can make them sick.

You are in your summer months, so your birds should not be cold. Do you have access to bagged feed which has all the nutrients required by layers. There are several active members from Australia. I'd suggest you go to your Aussie thread, and pick their brains.
