Strange egg today!

I went out to gather eggs earlier and one of them had busted in the nest and some of the shell had been pecked off...to reveal...another egg, double yolker to boot! What's up with the egg, within an egg. There was even a yolk in the outside egg. Is this even close to normal?

I've seen pics of eggs in eggs before but they are pretty rare. Weird!

The egg on the outside was broken and still had yolk and white inside, it was like the girls had been pecking it, but there, inside was an intact double yolker. I already took it apart to examine it, so no pic this time. I'm not sure that is so good for the hen that laid it, but weird!!
